Saw a plug for this free-to-play app in my inbox, courtesy of our favorite rhythm game developers.

I was pleasantly surprised. It’s a fairly engaging Endless Runner, with a rhythm game twist. And it lets you import your own music. The free-to-play aspect isn’t as egregious as in many games, either; it essentially lets you buy more slots to choose more of your own songs (which strikes me as eminently reasonable). It seems very polished, on the whole. My only gripe is more of a phone related one: the way I hold my phone occasionally covers the speaker, and obviously sound source is crucial in this.

I tried it on my iPhone 4, it was laggy as hell and badly translated (my phone is in french ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif” />). So I’m waiting for the game to be released on Android to play it on my new phone. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_cheeky.001.gif” />

Double post, to say Record Run was released for Android today ! I was able to test it in better conditions (= with a WAY better and faster phone) and it was pretty cool and challenging. I just had to think about two fixes:

– using headphones as the game recommends it (otherwise your fingers will cover the speaker)

– using an app to switch languages on Android smartphones to get the game in english (the french version is awful and seems to be made using Google Translator). I’ll probably use the language switcher for other purposes anyway (Twitter, forums, QWERTY layout…) ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_cheeky.001.gif” />
