I’m having more problems with Reaper 4.22 32 bit.
Suddenly and without warning every time I press “Q” during tempo mapping, all my marker just disappear.
If I start a new project the problem goes away, but I’ve restarted this project about four times now and this keeps happening over and over again! I’ve wasted hours trying to fix this.
Any clue as to what’s going on here? I’m getting increasingly frustrated at this software, rapidly approaching my breaking point and I’m about to just giving up on this whole thing.
BEFORE Pressing Q
AFTER Pressing Q
Rewire your keyboard so pressing “q” actually presses “7”
If you go to the Actions menu and then click on Show action list what is the description/action for your Q key?
It almost sounds as if Q is doing a Ctrl+Z (Undo) when it is not working properly.
Did you install the RBN pack? It also sets up several custom actions with hotkeys, including the one that uses Q to set a new measure with correct BPM. Perhaps REAPER’s default action does something else that’s causing this.
I tried hitting 7, nothing happened.
Yes, the RBN pack was installed. The Q shortcut has been working fin until this point
Look at the pic below, as you can see I was able to create almost half the song before the software decided to stop working. I can’t select anything anymore, the MIDI piano roll at the bottom only goes to the 26th measure and stops.
Are there any more updated tutorials that deal more specifically with this version of Reaper? I’ve spend hours on this project without getting past the basic first steps, then something goes wrong and I have to start over again and again.
You have two midi tracks on your drum track. The first one stops at measure 26.
You should only have one for the whole drum track. When it is too short you have to drag the end of the track to the right to match up with the end of the song (mouse over the end of the track at measure 26 and then left click and drag to the right). You should remove the other track so you only have one.
I figured out this problem!
I was hitting Control+Shift+S to do a ‘save as’, which is the standard keyboard shortcut in Adobe products and other software I use. Reaper was splitting items with that shortcut, so I can only imagine that’s the problem.
Glad you figured it out!
