REAPER, piano roll shows entire track

Whenever I click to activate piano roll in REAPER, it zooms out to the whole track, not just the section I want.
In the bottom-right corner of your screen, there are “+” and “-” signs. Try clicking the “+” to zoom into the section you want to see.

I’m aware of that. But why does it always show the entire track. It used the just show the nearby notes.
It shouldn’t. If you zoom in and you save it should take you exactly where you were. When you save a project it saves everything, including windows open and location, zoom etc.
That usually happens to me whenever I open a midi item while highlighting multiple at the same time (kinda like Ctrl+Alt+E)
Yeah, if you have more than one item selected it will open them all up while being zoomed out. So before you open something up, click on it once and then double click.
