Hi all, I’ve been following this project since the beginning and love everything about it. Sadly I’ve encountered slowly escalating issues as I continue to add more upgrades to my game, now a good amount of the tracks I have upgrades on will either freeze the game on loading or I will keep getting “unable to load song, skipping” errors when trying to load ANY instrument vocals or not. It only started with one or two songs but now it seems to affect songs I just added today, and I extracted everything as is from the master file download on the google docs site. I’ve recompiled, reinstalled, replaced the folders and nothing seems to be able to fix it atm and I’m at a loss as to what else it could be. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys!
January 14, 2015 at 4:33 pm #436268If you’re seeing problems with specific songs, single those out (and which upgrade you’re using).
I run nearly every upgrade with every build (obviously, as I have to to test/capture) and — aside from the odd ‘unable to load, skipping’ for a song that works fine the next time I try — have no issues.
If songs are failing to load on any instrument, and they’re songs you own, and the dummy file has been deleted… well, that shouldn’t happen, as RBHP doesn’t tamper with those (unless you’re using a fix).
January 22, 2015 at 8:19 pm #436792Hi Espher, I just caught something and am letting you know it. The Pro G/B upgrade midi for Uncontrollable Urge by Devo does not contain the Harm part. And ofc the “Harm only” midi does not contain the Pro G/B upgrade.

March 15, 2015 at 2:15 pm #440695Wondering if there is an issue with the keys upgrade of Won’t Get Fooled Again by The Who (RB1). It had my game freeze twice in a row yesterday during the short animation before the song actually starts…
March 15, 2015 at 5:43 pm #440714Looks like there’s a duplicate track name event on the right-hand keys track, for some reason.
March 19, 2015 at 12:08 am #440932Rather than start another problem thread, I’m glomming on to this one. I hope that that’s okay.
I had some trouble with this round of RBHP updates – not with any of the 11 new songs that I updated, but with some older updates that I tacked on for this update cycle because I’m still buying old DLC files. In this case it was one or all of these files from the May, 2014 update package: Blew by Nirvana, and Burn, Dragula or Superbeast by Rob Zombie.
Symptoms: the update package built successfully, but whenever I tried rebuilding my cache file – the build with only the two RBHP packages present – only a few songs would show up when doing a spot check of the song library, specifically the rb3 disk songs and the first few RBHP tracks, alphabetically up through Blew. I deleted each of the 4 tracks mentioned above, one at a time, but the short rebuild was faulty until they were all removed. Once they were out of the mix, the update went off without a hitch.
Odd aside: I already have several other upgrades from the 5/14 update in my ‘input’ folder, and they work fine.
I’m not asking for anything here, its just sort of a notification – or maybe a data point if it matters.
Thanks for all the work you put onto this project.
March 19, 2015 at 11:11 am #440952Are you using the individual release packages from each release, and adding, or using the master? It’s possible the initial releases of one or more of those songs was mucked up and I put out a ‘fix’, but if you’ve never pulled them fresh from the master, you may not have them.
If that checks out, crack open the dummy in C3 CON Tools, rip out the songs.dta (actually it may have created it in the RBHP packager root, I can’t remember), and check to see if there is just data ‘missing’ after Blew. If there are other songs after it in the file that ARE loading, try and scroll through to see which one is the ‘last’ one loading, and maybe let me know so I can check (or eyeball it yourself) to see that I didn’t include an extra or short a parenthesis in there.
Generally, if you’re only getting a partial set, it means one of three things:
- The folders were missing from the input folder.
- One of the songs.dta files or upgrades.dta files has gummed up syntax, and it’s preventing everything after it from loading.
- You found one of the magic folder count numbers that causes the packaging libraries to just give up the ghost. Sometimes adding extra upgrades (even for songs you don’t own) will ‘fix’ that.
March 20, 2015 at 2:39 am #441029Thanks for the reply. I think that I might even be able to do some of that stuff.

I have to admit that I’m more than a little curious about this. Magic is cool.
Are the numbers constant, or do they vary from user to user?
March 20, 2015 at 2:42 am #441030If espher is talking about what I think he may be talking about, that is a bug in the x360 library that was fixed on all my tools a few months ago thanks to Nyx’s help. If so, the rbhp tool needs to update the x360 code and it should go away.
Otherwise the only other limitation should be 4gb limit per con file.
March 20, 2015 at 12:28 pm #441046I’m not sure if it’s the same, but I’ll swap out the new library for the old just in case.
Essentially it would choke on specific numbers of songs in a given package. I don’t remember one offhand, but one more or one less and it was totes fine.
May 5, 2015 at 1:59 am #444647Okay, I’m having another RBHP “episode”. This time my update went off without any apparent problems, and I even played a bunch of songs and they were fine. The issue (and maybe it has nothing to do with The Project) popped up after my latest DLC/RBN buying session, two days after my RBHP update. As usual I grabbed 20 new (to me) songs. Once the downloads were complete, my song count should have been 2903. Instead, only 2044 show up. The only pattern that I’ve noticed so far is that the missing tracks are all songs with RBHP upgrades. The RBHP package file is apparently intact.
This is all done under TU5. Once I’ve finished playing through the 20 new tracks I’m planning on doing some experimentation, but at the moment I have no real idea of what might have caused this. I know that I’m getting close to the 2952 song limit, and that I have a lot of upgrades. I also wonder if I might be running into some sort of “piece” limit. When loading RB3, the count is now up to 1900, though I think that it should be one or two higher. Maybe this last round of 20 songs put me over the top somehow.
Anyway, if you’ve got any ideas I’d love to hear them!
May 5, 2015 at 3:29 am #444652Key thing would be to ensure that you’re not loading anything you don’t have, e.g. RBN pro drum upgrades. That can start limiting song count when you are close to the song limit.

May 5, 2015 at 3:47 am #444655Hi. First time user of RB:HP. I did all the normal upgrades and some of the keys and chart upgrades. Most of the keys work just fine, but when I play RB1 Foreplay/Longtime, the game freezes. Any suggestions? Should I re-run the packager and re-do the upgrade?

Should I re-run the packager and re-do the upgrade?Freezing on track load usually indicates a problem with the midi (missing info or extraneous tracks). It /should/ load fine. I’d say try it again and see, but if you have REAPER I would import the midi in your input folder and make sure it has keys. It’s possible it could be the wrong mid (I don’t think it should be).
