So since a few days ago, I have been having a problem with a song finishing, whenever I finish a song or quit near the end the game gives a disc unreadable error. Sometimes I can finish a couple songs just fine but after that it just starts giving me a disc unreadable error, and I have to open and close the disc tray.
I also got the same error a couple times when practicing keys on the “learn an instrument” stuff.
It happens on TU4, TU5, Customs, DLC, Disc songs. Someone suggested deleting my song cache, which I didn’t think would work (Spoiler alert: It didn’t) I also tried cleaning my disc, and before this started happening for the first time I’d haven’t taken out my RB3 disc, so I don’t know how it could’ve got scratched or damaged.
August 13, 2017 at 7:05 pm #489354It could either be the disc or the disc drive (Why would the disc drive not read that part of the game though, that would be a good question). I’d suggest testing the disc in another xbox and see what happens.

I don’t have another xbox (with a working disc drive) though. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_frown.gif” />
August 14, 2017 at 4:32 pm #489383Possibly could be your laser being burnt out (especially if running a copy) try installing the game onto the hard drive to test.
Had this problem before too and managed to change the laser on the disc drive (videos of how to on youtube) also if your running a smoke machine this will make the disc harder to read due to the residue, again installing onto hard drive solves this issue as only needs to read the disc at bootup.
Hope this helps.

I don’t have a smoke machine. So that can’t be it.
Also, I think I fixed it. Earlier I was able to play over 5 songs without an error, although before that I had errors on the pro keys trainor.
I’ll probably just get a backup disc at some point.
Also, if I install the game to hard drive would customs still work?

Yes.

Ok.
August 14, 2017 at 5:57 pm #489387I remember having a similar problem (dirty lens) on a wii. I opened up the drive and used a q-tip with water to try to clean it (I was a smoker, if someone smokes (or vape, idk if vaping does the same thing tbh) in your house this is a plausible idea). It did work, just water and a q-tip, but I guess it’s a risk I know of nothing about disc readers if water is good or not.

No-one here smokes or vapes though.
August 15, 2017 at 12:02 am #489394I had the same issue when the disc was scratched (so at least some error with reading).
My solution was to install the game since the X360 added the feature and it has worked fine since then.

Which model of the XBOX 360 do you have? The original “Fat” model, the “Slim” or the “E”? Because the “Fat” models could contain one of four types of DVD drives. Samsung, Hitachi, BenQ and Lite-ON. And they’re also more prone to disc reading errors and malfunction than the later XBOX 360 units.

I have the slim model, although it’s from like 2010-2011.
