1. Is it possible to author the sysex codes for phase shift in reaper? Ideally I would love to author pro real drums in reaper and then just import them into phase shift so it will understand the separation of yellow tom, yellow cymbal in the different lanes phase shift uses and also the open hi hat and rim shots. Is this possible? Does anyone know an easy way to author for phase shift in reaper?
2. If this is not possible, how can I author a drum track in reaper (expert drum lanes), import the midi into eof so that it will keep the same midi assignment to drums.

2. You can also make a pro drum track in REAPER (could also use that project for RB while at it) and import the MIDI in EoF to modify it for real drums in phase shift.
September 8, 2017 at 8:11 am #4904011. The Sysex messages are described in the “Sysex Message Format” section of this thread:
http://dwsk.proboards.com/thread/404/song-standard-advancementsBasically a technique marker is turned on with a Sysex message, playable notes are defined, and then the technique is turned off with a Sysex message.
2. EOF honors the Rock Band drum format, so generally if you author a valid drum track it should survive being imported into EOF.

Then from this menu select Sysex:
September 8, 2017 at 5:16 pm #490409Thank you guys so much! I will try these techniques tonight when I get home from work. I am very excited that I can do this in reaper. And I do always create a rb3 custom while i’m at it. I will upload a bunch to the customs pretty soon. Seems like I could update the rb3 template to include a new track for phase shift authoring (drums). Perfect!
Onyxite, I will try this when I get home, but once you select sysex as you suggested will it create a new lane similar to the ones numbered in parenthesis i.e. (41) (42) (43), and then I could potentially enter midi notes for the particular sysex codes? Is that possible?
September 8, 2017 at 5:26 pm #490410SYSEX events just needs to be aligned with the notes you want it to affect, kinda like lyrics for vocals, but instead of adding something to the note it has an on/off effect (i.e. a SYSEX code to turn on the effect and another one to turn it off).
September 8, 2017 at 7:42 pm #490413Thanks,
so the sysex are similar to the song start and song end “lines” in the Events track? You just drag the sysex start to the beginning of the note, and the sysex end to the tail end of the note? And this will translate in phase shift?
So basically when I click on that bumpy tab that is in the picture, it will present a sysex option where you enter the “sysex code” for things like open hat, or rim shot, and then it will create a visible “line” that you can drag for “start” and “stop”. Ill try this out when I get home
September 8, 2017 at 8:22 pm #490416I think so. I suggest making the notes you want to know in EoF and then importing the MIDI in REAPER so you can actually see how it’s done, you’d have a visual reference.

Good thing I took notes years ago…
50 53 00 00 03 05 01 - Expert Open Hi-Hat On
50 53 00 00 03 05 00 - Expert Open Hi-Hat Off
00 00 00 00 ## 00 00 - Difficulty (00-03)
00 00 00 00 00 00 0# - Toggle (0-1)You’ll need to add two markers around a set of notes: one to enable and one to disable open hi-hat…
and you have to repeat this with every different difficulty you want to have it in.
For more information, ask around the PS forums.
September 15, 2017 at 7:37 pm #490636I can’t really provide support for how to craft Sysex messages in Reaper, you may have better luck following Alternity’s suggestion of creating a test chart in EOF and import the MIDI into Reaper to see how the MIDI editor displays them (ie. if you are entering raw data in hexadecimal format or something else).
