I think this is a fair game question since we PS3 Customs users have to run CFW.
Everything custom-wise is set up and running fine on my PS3, except score saving on customs, which I will fix using the conversion tool.
My question is, has anyone been successful using Multiman to play RB3 off the hard drive AND still have access to customs?
My guess would be that you’d have to either move or copy the customs containing folder to some other location that Multiman would utilize when loading RB3?
I’m obviously already playing using my game disk, but I’d like to have the convenience of diskless playing.
I’ve not had much luck finding RB3 specifics on the CFW and MM focused forums, so I thought I’d ask here since I’m guessing someone has figured it out, or already knows if it is impossible.
If this questions is out of bounds for this forum, then please disregard.

First, open Multiman and highlight RB3. Push the Triangle button and copy the RB3 disc to your hard drive. When the copy is finished, remove the RB3 disc and put it in storage. You will now have a RB3 icon in Multiman with a “HDD” indicator; click on this icon. The screen will go black and you will get a message about “Game Quit” and it will appear to kick you out of Multiman and back to the main menu. However, if you scroll up to the PS3 disc icon, it will turn into a RB3 icon. Click this and RB3 will load off the hard drive. All the DLC and customs will show up the same as when you run from the disc.
So from now on to start RB3, go into Multiman first, mount the RB3 disc image (that’s what’s happening when you get the “Game Quit” message), and then start the game after you get kicked to the main menu.
BTW, I also recommend upgrading the hard drive to an SSD model.

November 17, 2014 at 9:23 pm #433065Thanks, I will give this a try.
The first time I attempted this, RB3 would not access my customs or DLC.
I assume that with this method, the RB3 update to version 1.05 I already have on my system would be applied when running RB3 from under MM?

My understanding of how MM runs these disc images is that it fools the system into believing that the data is coming from the blu ray drive, so all updates, DLC, and any other info that is normally “layered” onto the blu ray hard copy is handled exactly the same way with the HDD image.
That said, I’m not even sure how to verify the version number. Do you know of a way to check?
And I will be very interested to hear if you have any issues with the DLC/custom songs loading. When you tried it before, did the songs show up but not load or did they not even appear in the game index?
November 18, 2014 at 1:19 am #433082My first attempt resulted in a ‘stock’ RB3 load with no DLC/customs or gamesaves.
I’ve not tried your method yet.
Regarding versioning, I’m not aware of any method to check it ‘in-game’.

Your solution worked perfectly.
I was originally trying to jack with the game settings in Multiman, thinking I had to run it directly in that environment.
As far as version checking, I discovered if you have it patched to 1.05 outside of MM, it will also apply to MM.
If you click the square button while over the RB3 icon, the upper left of the screen will show game version 1.05.
Thanks for this quick fix!
