I’m wondering, the standard pro guitar is 17 frets, right?

How exactly would I do a song with notes that go over it.

I know I can do a note like, for example, 18 on the A string by authoring it as a 13 on the D string, since it’s the same note.

But how should I author it if it has notes above 17 on the e string (the thinnest), since I can’t do the method above?

Also, for a different song, is it possible to chart songs that use 7/8-string guitars for RB3?

If so, how would I go about that?

If the higher number frets occur on a solo section you can move all the notes in that solo down an octave. It can be a pain in the ass to move each note individually as I’m not sure how to do it automatically in Reaper but it’s an option.

I assume that can work for anywhere, not just solos?

Because the song I’m working on has a few parts like this throughout the song. (It’s BTBAM, so it’s expected, lol)

Transposing to a higher string or a lower octave are the only real options. It doesn’t have to be solos, but my understanding is that’s mostly where this was done.

        All right. Thanks guys. <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />

My second question still needs an answer. <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_cheeky.001.gif” />

You can rewrite a 7/8 string guitar arrangement for 6 string guitar, but that’s basically what it would take.

I meant, what should I do for notes that are impossible to play on a 6-string, like an open notes on the B string (the thickest on a 7-string)?

It’s pretty much the same issue as the previous question, but reversed.

Since it’s just too low to play on the 6-string, should I just do an octave up?

The answer is always the same: you need to transpose it. How you transpose it is the same way you would rearrange it to play it on a 6 string, 17 frets guitar. Every song is different in that regard and you need to make a judgment call based on how you would play the song on a regular guitar, because that’s what players are required to do in game. <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif”>
