Hello people of this wonderful website & forum. I’ve only now discovered this site (and all the lovely possibilities… ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />) and am ready to dust off my xbox360 and my pro drums.
Is anyone else interested in the Post-Rock genre. I would love to play some epic songs by:
– Godspeed You! Black Emperor
– Explosions In The Sky
– Mogwai
– Mono
– Coda
– The Samuel Jackson Five
– Yndi Halda
– té
– Goonies Never Say Die
or something more mellow like:
– Balmorhea
– The American Dollar
– Olafur Arnalds
– Sigur Ros
– Nils Frahm
– Arms And Sleepers
– Anoice
– Max Richter
– The Cinematic Orchestra
– Johann Johannsson
– Eluvium
– Message To Bears
a little bit more on the electronics side:
– M83
– 65daysofstatic
– Röyksopp
I could go on and on… hope some able creators find these genres as interesting as me! It definitely will fit in the epic guitar/drums and sometime vocals genre! Thank your all for your hard work and for considering this!

Sigur Ros.
March 9, 2015 at 9:32 pm #440254As much as I would love to see some Post-Rock on here, I doubt anybody would be willing to chart any songs from the genre, typically the songs are long and aren’t centered around a usual 4-piece band with guitar and drums and everything.
March 10, 2015 at 4:33 am #440286“Poor Leno” by Röyksopp is in the C3 database in case you didn’t see it yet so at least there is that
March 10, 2015 at 5:20 am #440294I dream of getting post-rock playable, but the most wanted post-rock band for me is Logh, especially their latest album up-to-date ‘North”/ Their song ‘Death to My Hometown’ can be heard in the trailer for the videogame World in Conflict: Soviet Assault.
March 10, 2015 at 11:15 am #440304@all, thanks for taking an interest. for everybody new to the genre i will give you some song recommendations (all songs are under 10 minutes). maybe you will fall in love with it and decide to tackle authoring a rock band track. there was one post-rocky track on rbn which was called “Bamberg”, but I can’t recall the band name or the authoring studio.
– Mogwai – Burn Girl Prom Queen
– Explosions In The Sky – Have You Passed Through This Night
– Explosions In The Sky – So Long, Lonesome
– Goonies Never Say Die – Nothing Remains Forever Yet The Future Still Holds Hope (nice keys part, also)
– The Samuel Jackson Five – Skinflick Dress Rehearsal
– Mono – Cyclone
@murlatok: logh is great, love “saturday nightmares”!
March 10, 2015 at 4:31 pm #440333@fastbuck the whole “North” album is great. But my favorite is ‘Forest Eeys’ (RGB_version also)
March 11, 2015 at 2:40 am #440368+1 té, those guys kick ass
March 11, 2015 at 8:15 pm #440424Been considering since post-rock for ages. Some tracks stand out as being doable, such as Ãgætis Byrjun by Sigur Rós, Hunted by a Freak by Mogwai, and maybe even Moya by Godspeed. My time is limited and I have a few other things on the go but keep an eye on my other customs thread and I’ll try and get some done when I can ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
March 12, 2015 at 5:20 am #440452I like a lot of those bands but I think they’d be niche songs at best, especially for anyone playing with friends. Given most of those guys are seldom vocals, or in sigur’s case gibberish.
That said I’d like to personally play some mogwai(been jamming to them since like 99′) or goonies.
If you haven’t checked it out killbody tuning from the RBN is an awesome post rock band in the vein of a lot of these bands.
March 12, 2015 at 7:35 am #440455I think it’s worth noting that Rock Band supports Icelandic characters, which I honestly think is solely because Harmonix had the foresight to think that someday Sigur Ros might make its way into the game.
Just a thought.
March 25, 2015 at 2:28 pm #441301I’m not sure how helpful this is, but for any inquiring customs trackers, there’s a decent amount of post-rock songs tabbed out in full on Songsterr already. I don’t have any experience in tracking, but I’d imagine the transliteration’s a bit easier when you don’t also have to figure out what exactly is being played (especially if you’re not intimately familiar with the song already).
Anyways, here are a few links as examples:
Mono – Halcyon (Beautiful Days) +
Explosions In The Sky – A Song For Our Fathers +
Explosions In The Sky- Let Me Back In +
God Is An Astronaut – Suicide By Star +
God Is An Astronaut – All Is Violent All Is Bright +
Godspeed You! Black Emperor – Monheim +
Personally, my biggest request would be pretty much any Russian Circles song. If you want to get technical about it, it’s probably more “post-metal” than post-rock, but the instrumentation in all of their songs is complex, unique, and really fun to play on all three Guitar/Bass/Drums. Harper Lewis is the only one tabbed out in full on Songsterr, but it’s also one of their best songs:
Russian Circles – Harper Lewis +
