Where do you find them? I have almost every song released officially for the PS3 so there I have all the great folks online to play with, but on the Xbox I bought solely for customs it’s just me. All of my family, friends, and co workers stopped playing Rock Band years ago. Hell they thought I was weird for getting RB3 because “who still plays that”. I’d like to play all of these new songs that I can’t take online with people. Seems as of now I just live in the wrong location (hour south of St. Louis). Which is a as far as I can tell a bad place to get people together for Rock Band, Anime, Comics, or anything else I enjoy lol. Any advice on how to find other players? I already tried one of the largest game resale shops in the area but they just laughed at me. All that plus setting the stage kit up every Friday or Saturday night just for myself is starting to feel a bit sad lol
July 20, 2014 at 1:36 pm #425073I would say to move to a place that isn’t filled with judgmental assholes that laugh at you for enjoying stuff, but I guess that might be a bit hard to just go up and do on the fly. The only thing I could think of other than that would be to search for other groups/subcultures in the area with nerdy interests and see if you could make any friends there who would be open minded to the idea of Rock Band.
July 20, 2014 at 10:11 pm #425116I actually have no problem finding people to play with – most of my friends still play, and one or two even have RB rigs of their own. But aside from that, I cohost a bi-monthly geek singles night in Van Nuys where Rock Band is a centerpiece activity (which is why I’m really glad I found C3, because after the official releases stopped I was worried I’d be short for new content… I was wrong!).

Just wondering what establishment you host your rock band nights. Might just check it out someday.
July 21, 2014 at 10:56 am #425146July 21, 2014 at 8:22 pm #425187I find chaining my barstaff up after work, and refusing to pay them until they play with me* works…
*On Rock Band 3, obviously
Seriously, putting it on at the end of a quiet night with the staff and a select few customers has become quite a ritual. A couple of the guys who’d scarcely even heard of Guitar Hero or Rock Band have since gone out and got their first guitars… ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
July 21, 2014 at 10:17 pm #425197I would say to move to a place that isn’t filled with judgmental assholes that laugh at you for enjoying stuff,It didn’t come off as assholeish or belittling me for enjoying Rock Band. If that’s how it came across in my post that was my bad. It was more like a amused good luck. He just didn’t know anyone who played and they stopped carrying used instruments due to poor sales.
The only thing I could think of other than that would be to search for other groups/subcultures in the area with nerdy interests and see if you could make any friends there who would be open minded to the idea of Rock Band. This is pretty much what I’m thinking at this point.

It came off as such to me, hence why I tried to show some sympathy and battle spirit to help cheer the OP up
July 24, 2014 at 7:55 pm #425367I started a band night at a local bar. It’s a great way to play regularly with fun people (though, you really need to pick the right bar). I am friends with the owner, so I don’t get paid but it doesn’t cost me anything other than my time and effort. Even people who have never played Rock Band typically get into it when they see it going down, because everyone loves karaoke. And honestly, it’s not that hard to run. Make some booklets from your song cache library, make slips for people to fill out a band name and some songs, then bring them in order, karaoke-style, one song at a time. You can get as complex as you want technically (use the bar’s sound system or your own, projector or bar TV, etc) but the technical hurdles are straightfoward.
We even did an event on a moving train this year (the fog is coming from the Rock Band Stage Kit, not the train burning down). C3 customs were super popular ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif” />
July 24, 2014 at 8:02 pm #425369– Have a gaming meet you’ve ran the last seven years, set it up since it’s your favorite game
– Staff video game rooms at conventions, set it up since it’s your favorite game and you like seeing people have fun
– Work on customs, make your friends play them with you as guinea pigs
– Attempt to keep in contact with anyone new you play it with, fail most of the time
July 24, 2014 at 11:40 pm #425376I started a band night at a local bar.A local bar ? What’s that ? ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_cheeky.001.gif” />
Luckily most of my friends are gamers and/or enjoy singing at parties. They’re kinda scared to play on my electronic drums since there isn’t any color on the pad/cymbals and think they’ll break it. Other than that, it’s great. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />
I hosted about 5 Rock Band parties at home, and also organized a Phase Shift tournament (1vs1 on guitar, with brackets and songs I picked especially for them). It was pretty fun, and I’m planning to redo that now that I have a decent amount of custom songs ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />
It should even be possible to do a band vs. band (a room each) on GH WoR so I’m considering it.
Make some booklets from your song cache libraryI would… if I wasn’t a PS3 user. But I’m gonna stick to in-game setlists (the kind of “custom songs I’m totally never gonna play but I still download in case I host a RB3 party playlist”) ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_cheeky.001.gif” />

Well, on the plus side, you have a lot more nice scenery and buildings than we do in southern Ontario.
But look at that church. Can anyone say Rock Band church party?! ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />
July 25, 2014 at 10:50 pm #425479Haha, yeah and at least I got plenty of space and I don’t have to worry about neighbors. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_cheeky.001.gif” />
