    Hello everyone.

Thanks to Farottone, I am going to be handling converting each custom to the Phase Shift computer game. I will begin work on converting each and every custom starting from the beginning of when the project was started, and I will also release the converts on the week of corresponding DLC. But here’s a thought:

What should we do about multitrack releases? Should we just stick to just one audio file to avoid copyright? (Especially for OrangeHarrison’s releases, since those aren’t exactly official. It’s up to you guys, since I have the converted multis in my Phase Shift folder, but I can make a guitar.ogg file for each.

I think we should do multis if we have the multi-track audio ripped, frankly, but it’s your call.

I’m not sure what is the best format for Phase Shift.

All of the songs packaged on the in-game setlist are from artists under the Creative Commons license, or with permission from the artist.

If you’re wondering about audio formats, here’s a link explaining the standards:

Ok, one thing we need to address right away is: are we ok with giving away the full audio? Because we can’t do PS conversions without releasing an OGG file, and while a CON file is no way for anyone to find and get songs for free, a ZIP file with an OGG file in it is a bit more “direct”.

The only exception I was considering was OrangeHarrison’s isolations, since he did those himself and that could be major legal trouble. But if everyone else is down with the idea of free multitracks, (There’s a website where you can basically find remix stems left over from competitions and very rare stuff that I get stems from) then we can do that.

I have no problems with it, personally, but I know I’ve been less concerned about that hit than some of you from the beginning, so take that as it is. Unrelated, but I do think that if we’re doing alternate platforms (e.g. Wii, Phase Shift) it might be worth revisiting RB3Maker zips. I’ll start a thread when I think the time is right but I just want to plant the seed here.

            Interesting point, yes.

i’m ok with it either way. it’s not any more or less legal to distribute the ogg in a zip file that to distribute the ogg in a STFS (con) file. they’re both easily (relatively) gotten out. the illegality is there in both situations.

I just want to commend TylerFG if he wants to take this project on. I have no Wii and no interest in PS so I can’t be of help in this regard.

              Agreed.

Besides, for this, I’m only using EOF to import the MIDI and add a song.ini file, so it should be easy.

Ok, I am beginning work on converting customs starting with the first batch released on 4-9-13. Any specific place I should upload these? (My usual sharing site is 4Shared.)

We’ll be pointing you to the right place in a few days, working on an uploader. <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif”>

Thanks. Already converted “Time”, so I’m working on Pantera now, or when I get home.

Here’s an interesting thought a friend brought up to me on Skype:

[5] *friend*: by the way Tyler, I just came up with a idea for the CCC Phase Shift converts when they are done

                [5] Tyler Green: Yeah?

[5] *friend*: perhaps it would be possible to make a game server for people with the CCC songs?

                [5] Tyler Green: Hmm….that’s a very good question….

[5] *friend*: there is one for Bluezer customs or something already, so it seems like a good way to let people who own the songs have a place to play them online

[5] Tyler Green: Hmm….I like that….I’ll take that to the thread right now.

Any thoughts? I for one think it’s an interesting idea.

is it a good idea? probably. is it doable? depends. are you willing to cover the costs? is your friend? i think most of us at C3 already spend enough resources to bring you guys what we do. I for one am not willing to also pay for a PS server.

You do bring a good point….
