ive had this problem for almost every song i authored so far, the overlapping to too close gems error in magma. i would always have to go back to every note magma told me to and delete it then re insert.

in that pic above, you can see the notes are not on grid, and this only ever happens when i copy paste in reaper (ctrl c + ctrl v).

i always use snap to grid when authoring and check to make sure my notes are on grid properly. even if i copy paste a section with all the notes on grid perfectly some of the notes will be lined up like in that pic. its always the same notes that end up like that if i copy paste a section multiple times.

i realize that this might be my fault of not checking good enough or maybe misclicking my note placements, but even if i misclicked with snap turned on how would my notes be off grid like this?

is there a quicker way to fix this problem rather than having to delete and re insert all incorrect notes?

Sometimes Reaper will mess up in 2 ways: slightly mispositioning pasted notes and giving notes 0 length because they collide with other notes even if you created those notes on grid and they shouldn’t collide.

First of all, are you using Reaper 4.22? If not, you’re on your own. <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif”> If you are, make sure you quantize your notes obviously. If that doesn’t fix it, use CAT’s Polish notes command: that will rewrite the MIDI code and force Reaper to obey.

yes i am using reaper 4.22, i just went thru and quantized all the notes was a pain! but thanks for the CAT tip will be useful for future errors to come.

Keep in mind that quantizing is a necessary step, regardless of Reaper’s behaviour. If you know for a fact you don’t have triplets, quantizing can be as quick as select all, quantize.
