Happy birthday Sy, it was a privilege being able to help out!
January 16, 2016 at 3:54 pm #462143Wow, good job, guys! I haven’t downloaded any of your songs because of what I’m doing, but when I have free time, I’ll get around to it.
One of the community managers and the main tournament organizer over at SpinShare. Also somewhat decent at charting for RB3 I think.
January 16, 2016 at 4:15 pm #462144Thank you so much to Nunchuck and Farottone for making this the best release yet, in my opinion. I did pick every song, so I might be a little biased, but I wanted to do songs that everyone would appreciate, not just me. I was ready to work as hard as I could for a great release, and Farottone giving my base Pro Keys chart of Joan Crawford a tune-up and adding harmonies was icing on the proverbial birthday cake.
First off, sorry for Necropolis, if anyone had played it on drums, because it’s honestly the worst chart I’ve ever done. I’m turning 21 tomorrow, so I probably wasn’t drunk when I did it, but either way, the chart is vastly improved now, and is updated to be more than playable now. Necropolis isn’t part of this release, it’s one of our older released customs.
The picks this week were mostly a culmination of stuff I’d always wanted to do, or stuff that I recently found about that I wanted to do. I think that every track is amazing, and playing them is an incredible experience, again, bias, but I think it’s true.
Clean My Wounds has a very interesting main riff matched by the bass part, and has a solo with surprisingly fast parts. Overall, it’s a very fun song on every instrument, mostly only moderately challenging on guitar due to the solo.
Light the Sky on Fire is a song featured from the horrible Star Wars Holiday Special, and is definitely the best part of the movie by far. It’s a really awesome tune that has no business in something so bad, but I digress. The song is insanely fun to play, with a great amount of depth to each instrumental part, again, mostly guitar, with a very long solo that gets pretty challenging, as well.
Ride Captain Ride is definitely the easiest song this week, but features some great instrument parts, too. Keys have the most varied part, and are the highlight here, drums are also fun to play. While guitar gets a solo or two, the part isn’t super challenging, and it’s far from failable.
The Sails of Charon features some amazing guitar work from Uli Jon Roth, on his final album with the Scorpions. The riffs are all great, and the solo is very fast. Drums are somewhat varied, but not super challenging, similar to bass, I’d say, and overall, guitar is where it’s at with this one, and earlier Scorpions are always great.
Pulling Mussels is a song I’ve wanted to do since I started charting, and I’m glad I chose to do it now. It’s got some interesting guitar and drum work, with a solo that’s not super challenging, but for the most part, drums are solid all throughout.
For Joan Crawford, it’s definitely one of the customs I’m most proud of. It was my first attempt at doing Pro Keys, which was mostly a transcription of some sheet music online, and is something I wanted to give the works, harmonies and pro keys and the whole shebang. Unfortunately, I didn’t have Pro Keys perfect, and I wasn’t sure I could get vocals done, but luckily the master himself, Farottone, stepped in and got everything completely up to snuff. The Keys part is challenging, with a great solo in the intro, and definitely the highlight for the song. Drums are fairly varied as well, with plenty of fills, and guitar gets a solo-ish part near the end, but is still not super challenging. This is definitely one of my favorite songs, and is now my favorite chart that I’ve done, so all of my thanks go to Farottone for this!
This is probably the best birthday I’ve ever had, and as of now, it hasn’t even happened yet. This is by far my favorite release, and I hope you’ll check out everything, I don’t think a single song is worth missing!
January 16, 2016 at 4:18 pm #462146Just for the records: I did very little on pro keys, it’s all Sy’s. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”>
