Please say it’s Purple Rain in full…..please!!!! I’m one of those that was not happy when the ending was cut off the initial release, still got it, but barely play it due to that…so iconic of a guitar solo and ending to have it missing (especially for a person that plays guitar on the games). **crossing fingers**

The weekend has finally returned to the Funhouse! We have a release filled with legendary tracks. These songs are all in memory of people no longer with us, at least in part. It was one year ago yesterday we lost Prince. Today, we remember him with the long version of Purple Rain. We also honor Johnny Cash with God’s Gonna Cut You Down — A truly great song by a truly great man. Lastly, my Dad loved Kick Out the Jams! If he had a good shine on he would tell you about MC5 and always punctuate it with “Kick Out the Jams Motherfuckers!” This one is for you Dad!!

Prince is one of my favorite artists ever. Last year when we did the Prince retrospective, it was a huge undertaking. It was tough and we did our best. I decided then we would do single version of Purple Rain for release due to the amount we had to do and save the long version for the one year anniversary of his passing. Some people were less than understanding and basically threw a fit about it. All the hours of work many people put in and people still complained. Today, we once again honor the memory of Prince with Purple Rain. This time it is the long version. Enjoy it and if you were unhappy before now you can play it finally!!
MC5 – Kick Out the Jams is a proto-punk classic. Here is the original version with the profanity included. Rock it hard!!!
Johnny Cash is a legend. A hero to many! Here is to Johnny!! God’s Gonna Cut You Down is a great song and we are pleased to bring it to the peeps!!

Just to clarify, but the now-Single Version of Purple Rain is completely unchanged besides its title, but the full length version has instrumental changes to everything in the Single Version parts (everything before the solo, basically). Kick Out the Jams also uses the C3 version’s lead vocals as a base, but appropriate changes were made where necessary, so pitches are mostly the same, but the track isn’t identical. The harmonies done on it differ from the re-recording, and were done from scratch, along with all the other instruments on the song. The bass track on it is tiered correctly, and surprisingly challenging, with some fast strumming flourishes and lots of chords; for some reason, the re-recording version isn’t as nearly as hard on bass.
Great stuff Nunchuck and Sy! All of these will be thoroughly enjoyed…You guys rock!
Oh, by the way Nunchuck…..If I may make mention in tribute to Charlie Murphy who recently passed also…..
since both you and Housequake are huge Prince fans……..
