Release Notes
This week, I picked the (#1 Hits) Pack. These 3 songs are fun to play and most people have heard them before, whether they remember it or not. These will be fun for any RB party. Instruments are all fun and vocals are really awesome. These classic songs won’t let you down!
Stay was in the film Reality Bites and was a radio mainstay for quite a while. Most everyone will recognize this one! Also, it adds another female lead vocal song.
Escape (The Piña Colada Song) is one of those 70’s earworm songs. Once it burrows in your head you will be singing it to yourself, even if you don’t want to. My wife is totally proof of that fact!
Brandy (You’re a Fine Girl) was a 70’s soft rock staple. It appears on most 1970’s one hit wonder compilations out there. It is catchy and very fun to play. It has been in tons of movies and on TV.
Cyndi Lauper is one of my favorite 80’s artists. Money Changes Everything is a great track. You can’t go wrong with Cyndi Lauper, if you looking for a good time!
I had never heard Blackened Blue Eyes before we planned this weeks setlist. It grew on me as I worked on it. you should definitely give it a spin. It is really cool!
Saxon roars into the Funhouse with locomotive force with Princess of the Night. This New Wave of British Heavy Metal Classic will be fun for those who crave the metal.
Moya Oborona is special request of Sy’s friend Max. Sy will tell you more. I’m proud to be a small part of helping release this track.
Thank you to all you peeps for another great week. Have a great weekend! We’ll catch ya later!
Remember to Rock Out… Life is Short

August 27, 2016 at 5:28 pm #473970I think everything we did this week is amazing, song-wise, and that these are some of the catchiest songs that we’ve done in Funhouse history.
Princess of the Night is weirdly not the first song we’ve done about a specific train, just a “fun” fact. It’s a fantastic song with some great guitar and drum work, and I felt it wasn’t complete without harms, even though there’s not really any overlap between the vocal parts.
Money Changes Everything is great, too, and is definitely my favorite off of She’s So Unusual. It’s not too engaging on instruments, for the most part, but it’s still a phenomenal song, one of my favorites.
Blackened Blue Eyes is fairly well-known as the ending theme to the movie, Jumper, and is probably the best thing about the film, in my opinion. It’s catchy and has some really tricky instrument work, like an Immigrant Song-esque bass part that’s relatively buried.
Moya Oborona was a request from my friend Max, who’s being drafted in about a week, and it’s a song that he wanted to do that has a fitting meaning behind it, in this context. It’s a great song from a band that is completely unknown outside of Eastern Europe, and is even then pretty underground. I’m glad to have done my part in bringing such a great song to RB.
Also, ghost notes were definitely a theme this week, all of Nunchuck’s picks and Blackened Blue Eyes all have a ton of them.
