This was definitely one of the most challenging weeks that we’ve done so far, on a song by song basis.
To the End is an amazingly catchy song that was originally charted by my friend, m1999, and we made it full band. It has a super long guitar solo that’s almost a minute and a half long that never lets up. I think it has some-odd 900 notes in it, and is super challenging on guitar, but is more doable on the remaining instruments.
Larger Than Life is a Backstreet Boys cover, definitely weird, but it works pretty well as a power metal track, especially at the guitar solo. It’s pretty challenging as well, but not even close to To the End. Vocals are pretty fun to belt out on this one, even though it might be tricky. I’m always tempted to sing the higher harmonies in songs like this, and you may or may not have this same issue.
Goodnight Tonight is a great song, too, featuring some cool instrumental work, as well as vocals, provided by Colonel, yet again. It doesn’t have a ton of guitar to play, but they get two solos, almost back to back, with some pretty fast work in both. Bass is way more active, going all over the fretboard, definitely some great basslines in the song. Drums have a disco rhythm, but because of the open hi-hat hits before the snare, in pretty much every measure, you have to crossover a lot, so it’s actually pretty tricky.
Overall, pretty challenging week, the drum part in La La is surprisingly challenging, and the guitar work on Electric Landlady is great, too.

August 6, 2016 at 6:15 pm #473015Thanks guys! I really have to say that with all the banter regarding clue #4, I was certain that it had to be either “C moon” or “Live and let die”. To put it mildly, I literally jumped out of my chair when I saw the visualizer. It was kinda like “that shot at the buzzer”, “the knockout punch that came out of nowhere”…..you get the picture. I LOVE THIS SONG! Bass line on this song makes me smile. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />
Very nicely done!

Nunchuck and Sy have made me do this on several occasions as well, but that can be icing on the cake too!

August 7, 2016 at 1:59 pm #473050Hey there Rockers,
Thank you for all the kindness. You make this thread rock. In today’s custom world most people just look at the database and grab the songs. To us, this thread is very important. It gives us a place to interact with you peeps. We like the trivia and intelligent discussion. We thank you for all the great weeks of fun in this thread. We have more if you all want play along.
I worked in a record store for years and then a video store for more years after that. I am used to helping people find cool media. I’m thrilled every time I read that someone tried a band that they had never heard and loved it or that we picked a song they have wanted forever and were pretty sure nobody was going to make it happen. We work very hard to get this out every week. The hints, the songs and all the posting are all worth it because you dig it and let us know. Thank you everyone for a great week!!!
Rock on!!!
August 7, 2016 at 10:36 pm #473075Thanks for the awesome tracks this week! Can’t wait for the new hints!

August 8, 2016 at 8:14 pm #473112Hey there Rockers,
It is Monday again and that means it is time for more trivia and clues to our next release. This week features some awesome stuff… I’m stoked!!! Let’s see who has the answers this week.Hint for Song #1
To start us off this week, we have a cover of a great 60’s track done by one of the most respected punk bands of all time. The band recorded an album of all covers from the 60’s. This song was originally written and performed by one of my favorite 60’s vocalists and one of his many bands.Hint for Song #2
Next up, we have one of the most infamous B-Sides ever by one of my favorite artists. It was a b-side to a #1 single. It is well known for having more than a dozen f-bombs in the song. However, some people, including a famous background singer, claim the lyric really is “funk”, but the FCC doesn’t buy that.Hint for Song #3
For our third song, another one of my favorite songwriters/artists of all time, however this track was actually written by someone else. Returning to the Funhouse again, this time with a great song about a secret love. The song features a Funhouse alumni on background vocals and also has guitar by session musicians Jorge Calderone, Waddy Wachtel and an Eagle.Hint for Song #4
Coming in the 4 slot, is a German language song from a popular 80’s singer. However this song was most well known, in America, for an English Language cover of it. The artist went on to fame for a #1 single a few years later. The song was also reworked and re-titled by Laura Branigan and The Squids.Hint for Song #5
Our next offering, was released the year I was born. It features George Harrison on slide guitar and he also produced the song. It reached #4 on Billboard in 1971. The band has a C3 release, but this is their first trip to the Funhouse. Hopefully, they will be back again someday.Hint for Song #6
To finish the set for the week, we have a great stoner rock band’s opening track from their first full-length album. The song is great album opener named after a stretch of road in California. We had 4 “Big Brains” this week.
