Song #5
Anthrax – Got The Time (Joe Jackson cover)
Please be this song. Been wanting this Anthrax song for some time.
July 30, 2016 at 3:51 pm #472648Hey there Rockers,
The weekend has finally returned to the Funhouse. We have a dynamite week for you this week. This week, we feature all cover songs. There are so many awesome covers out there, we picked 6 great ones. We hope you dig the ones we picked. With any luck at all there will be some more cover packs coming in the future. At very least, a sprinkling of songs that didn’t make this week’s list.
This week was very interesting! Sy is on vacation as we speak. He worked so hard to get these ready before he left. I will not go into details, but I will say it was a super-human effort. This also forced me to be super-human as well. It was amazing and we don’t ever want to try to do it again. Trying to get a full release done in a short number of days is tough. There was only one small casualty, un-pitched vocals for one of the songs. Also 3 of the songs won’t get Database entries until he returns. They will have a mediafire link until DB entries are made. This was quite a week!
Let’s get this rolling.

Release Notes
I’m all alone in the Funhouse for this release, so I will do my best to give you the low-down for all the tracks.
Heroes (as made famous by Davide Bowie) – The Wallflowers , a band fronted by Jakob Dylan (son of Bob Dylan), did a great version of one of my all-time favorites David Bowie songs. I have been saving for this covers pack, I’m so glad it finally got its release.
Rainy Day Women #12 & 35 (as made famous by Bob Dylan) – This song commonly referred to as “Everybody Must Get Stoned”. The Black Crowes recorded this track for a CD called Hempilation brought to you by NORML (National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws). A great version of a crowd favorite at any RB party. This song was the one that only got un-pitched vocals due to time running out.
Tainted Love (as made famous by Soft Cell) – This song almost wasn’t released this week. A different song was originally slated for this spot, but due to time constrains, we opted for this awesome cover instead of a different cover by Marilyn Manson. It will appear at a later date so I won’t tell you what it is. Marilyn Manson did a super cool cover of this classic Soft Cell song.
Charlie’s Angels 2000 (as made famous by Jack Elliot & Allyn Ferguson) – This electronic re-working of the theme to TV’s Charlie’s Angles was used for the 2000 film adaptation of the 70’s TV show. It is a fun, fast-paced instrumental. It was originally written by the pair that brought us the Barney Miller Theme.
Institutionalized 2014 (as made famous by Suicidal Tendencies) – Body Count re-worked this skate-punk classic and made it all their own. Changing the lyrics to fit in modern day, yet staying true to the hard and heavy original. This song is been one I have been waiting for, and let me say, it was worth the wait!
Got the Time (as made famous by Joe Jackson) – Anthrax took this frantic song and added a little bit of Anthrax style. I have loved this song for years. Anthrax has done many awesome covers, this is one of the best.
We had 5 “Big Brains” this week. You all did a great job and got all of them correct!

There’s plenty of time for somebody to do that Puff Daddy ripoff of “Kashmir”, too. You never know.

I’d actually prefer if someone charted Foo Fighters – A320 & Silverchair – Untitled.
Both of them are very underrated songs, imo.
August 1, 2016 at 9:11 pm #472750Hey there Rockers,
Happy Monday! Are you ready for some trivia? Sy has returned and Funhouse powers are back to full.
Let’s see who the “Big Brains” will be this week.
Hint for Song #1
– Let’s start things off with a duo that was the combination of pop-rock and country. They only released one studio album. The first single from that album was a #1 Country hit, that also garnered CMA and Grammy nominations. Half of the duo won a Grammy with a guitar legend and the other has given up on recording to concentrate on songwriting.
Hint for Song #2
– Next, we have an awesome modern-day psychedelic rock band from London. The band is named after one of the Kings of Hell, although it just looks like misspelling. The song title is a play on a classic album title by an artist also known for psychedelic guitar driven rock.
Hint for Song #3
– This MTV reality star hit #6 on Billboard’s Hot Dance Club Songs. This singer’s biggest claims-to-fame are being sister to a super-famous pop-star and a botched Saturday Night Live performance. This song is a catchy tongue-in-cheek pop-rock song with potentially dirty lyrics.
Hint for Song #4
– This next song was a Top 5 Billboard hit for this band. The band is the second very popular band for its leader, the first was probably the most popular band ever. The song was only released as a single and wasn’t released on an album until it appeared on a greatest hits-type compilation.
Hint for Song #5
– This German power metal band’s name translates to Order of Fear. This fusion of power metal with prog and folk metal hits the Funhouse with the title track from their 2012 album.
Hint for Song #6
– Our final track is a cover. What do you get when you take a hit boy band song and give it the metal treatment? The answer is an unexpectedly awesome song. This power metal outfit did just that for this track off their ninth studio album. This one is gonna be fun!!

I don’t know if that really fits but I love that song so I’m hopeful.
After re-reading it I’m going to switch to La La by Ashlee instead.
