I’m kinda ashamed i never really heard any songs by Prince before except 1999 long ago. (Not really my genre i guess) It’s great that once again it’s my favorite game that opens my eyes to some great music. Really happy i get to learn all about some of this man’s music his legacy. Thank you guys for all the work you did to bring this to rock band. These forums never cease amaze me. Time to right my past wrongs and jam to some Prince…

Thank you so much for all of the positive energy you guys send us. I’m glad you are enjoying the songs. I hope everyone gives them all a shot, you won’t regret it. They are all great songs. The upcoming part two will be incredible as well. We are already hard at work preparing for next week. We do have a few songs that could use some vocal work, if anyone would like to help, please pm me. This Tribute is something very dear to me. It was something I felt needed to be done. I’m thrilled with the participation we have got. This is really a great community!

I’m honored to be a small part of this Prince release. When I was a teen I never paid much attention to Prince, I was too busy with Aerosmith, AC/DC and other “harder rocking” songs than Prince’s. Then I saw “Purple Rain” on HBO at a friend’s house (she insisted against my refusals) and I loved it. I came away with a new respect for Prince and actually went out and bought the Purple Rain cassette. Any friend I had in my car would have to listen to it and nearly every one of them came away a fan of at least a few of his songs they hadn’t heard before. His vocal stylings were unique and his guitar playing was second to none. His lyrics actually mean something – in charting lyrics for “Let’s Go Crazy”, I found that, according to Wikipedia: “Common to much of Prince’s writing, the song is thought to be exhortation to follow Christian ethics, with the “De-elevator” of the lyrics being a metaphor for the Devil.” I’d always though he was referring to “the elevator” and wondered why. And with “Darling Nikki”, while I understood the song’s meaning quite clearly, I’ve always thought he brought an emotion to the song that was completely his own. Try singing it and you’ll see what I mean. Try them all, you’ll be surprised at his vocal talents as well as his furious fingering of the guitar.

In a nutshell, the man was amazing. R.I.P. Prince.

Thank you so much to all the charters on this and the second part of the Prince retrospective. I can’t do justice to Prince or his music in an internet post, nor can I explore the depths of influence his music has had on my life from the first time I heard “Dirty Mind” back in ’81 through the last time I saw him perform live in 2012.

 

Thank you is all I have in words, but my gratitude is undying and I will be thinking positive thoughts on you all everytime I fire up one of these tracks.

Hey there Rockers,

The weekend has finally returned to the Funhouse! This week is part two of the Prince Tribute. We have 6 more tracks from 4 different albums, including two classics from Purple Rain!

 

I would like to thank all of the co-authors for this project. You helped make my dream come true and I can’t thank you enough!

This week, Colonel pitched in with vocals. We had a truly awesome collaboration with one of the masters, Nyxyxylyth! He was awesome to work with. he made this track a well polished, beautiful thing, Thank you so much Nyx!

Also this week, Sy really hit it out of the ballpark doing pitched vocals for 4 of these tracks. Pardon me while I derail this post for a quick moment, this dude took something that I truly cared about and put endless time and energy into to it. He is amazing! This week is a perfect example of how cool this dude is. He has become one awesome all-around charter and is working hard all the time at adding more to his skill-set. My friend You Rock!!! :rock:

This project is very special to me. Anyone doubting my commitment or love for this project, certainly doesn’t know a damn thing about me. This project is not perfect.

It is our tribute to the memory of one of the greatest artist of our lifetime. That is just it, period.

That said, there were things we do wish we could have avoided. Due to fade-outs and droning endings, some sacrifices were made. No audio engineers volunteered. We also used some of the single versions, in some cases it wasn’t the best choice, but the fade-out would still have been there, so it would have turned out similar but longer. Maybe in the future, efforts will be made to make different versions, if we get some help in doing so.

 

We would also like to thank all of you that support us every week. You peeps are a huge part of the reason we haven’t released less than 6 songs per week, every week for more than a year. We are fast closing in on 500 songs released through this thread.

 

We hope you get some real joy from this project. There are now 15 available Prince songs in RB3. 14 from the Funhouse and Kiss from C3. Enjoy these tracks and remember or discover the brilliance Prince brought us through the years. These may not be the last Prince songs. You may find one sprinkled in every so often.

 

RIP Prince Thank you for a lifetime of memories.
