Still excited for Kansas ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />… If I could do guitar (or about anything else), I would offer help there.
Also, it looks like I see new Yes songs?!

I’m shifting focus on my charts for the next week or so. Still working on Zappa charts, but my focus will also be on the Kansas pack. I hope to get it done in the next few weeks.
The Yes pack was announced a while ago, only new stuff is Yours Is No Disgrace, Tempus Fugit and Into The Lens, two of which are just upgrades.

Oh, I didn’t see a few of the songs before (I think I saw that there would just be songs from those albums)

August 25, 2016 at 5:09 pm #473884Hey thank you nsw, i’ve been always a fan of your work since fof forum many years ago. now im retired of charting scene due to my focus on professional drumming oriented to prog, i am very happy you will work on amazing packs, i would have loved to chart some of these in the past so in a way i feel your hard work as part of mine, maybe i wil make some guest contributions in the future, (? )
you can touch all of my work i did with sideshow, ajfone and the other c3 guys, some of these are yours.
i can request some prog bands i would love to see more like: camel, Van der graaf g, ELP, magma, marillion or maybe some newprog like steven wilson band, haken or even tool hahaha.

Thanks for the comments and praise! I’m trying to practice my instruments as well, hard to find the time.
Prog-wise, I’m not familiar with Camel yet, but I do plan to listen to their stuff at some point. There will be upgrades to my old VdGG and ELP charts, with some new ones planned. AJF is actually working on some new ELP right now. More Marillion is planned, upgrades and a bunch of new tracks. I would absolutely love to do Magma, my problem is I haven’t listened to anything beyond the first album, will get to that soon.
New prog I’m not as familiar with, it depends on the group. I’d have to look into it.
Thanks again!
October 15, 2016 at 1:42 am #476322I’d like to make an update post:
First, I apologize for the length of time it is taking to do these songs compared to the awful mess the list is. Real life comes first (stress and other things) and I’m having difficulty focusing between charts I’m working on. I have a number of projects going on in the background, and I made the mistake of promising too much too soon.
Customs will be released almost weekly, depending on how well things are going….
My Main List of to-do (excluding the other songs and ideas section) has been in some particular order, and is the only actual progress I’ve made. The only other work is tempo mapping in the Other Songs sections. The list is updated almost daily as I work on charts, but I’ve been moving portions of it around constantly.
I have added a CURRENT FOCUS section at the top of the main post, which should mentally prevent me from moving everything around. These artists’ songs I want to get done first. It may indicate what’s coming out soon or may indicate my effort has shifted to something else, based upon current progress. This section will only change every 1-2 months or so, again depends.
Current Focus:
Kansas, Frank Zappa, Iron Maiden, Yes, Coldplay, Genesis, Gentle Giant, Planet Gong

Thanks for the encouragement!
I actually looked back over my old chart of Talk, and I did a terrible job of it. The modified date says early 2010 (5.5 years ago!!), which at that point I had only been charting for nearly 6 months, knew nothing of proper methods. I may just do this one from scratch.
October 15, 2016 at 7:31 am #476334No matter what you decide, it will be glorious. I just hope I am worthy of this when the time comes…
December 9, 2016 at 12:21 am #478591Is there any chance you would ever consider doing the other two 80s Crimson albums? Beat and Three of a Perfect Pair?

I’m planning on doing a number of songs from those albums, but not the entire albums. I already did Neurotica which Oscar/Sideshow released as a custom, just needs other instruments. And I plan on upgrading his Three Of A Perfect Pair chart.
Right now I’m considering adding Neal Jack And Me, Sartori In Tangier, Waiting Man, Heartbeat, Nuages, Sleepless, Industry, and Dig Me. This list isn’t final right now. I’ll give the albums a listen again, it may change my mind.

Any of those ones you listed would be amazing man! Some great songs and I’d literally cry if you did Sleepless or Heartbeat :’)
January 2, 2017 at 12:01 am #479677hi nsw, i been lately listening to a classic prog band very underrated but with a gem of album which have some amazing drumming moments, the band im talking about is Eloy, and the album is Ocean, just listening to their main trilogy: dawn, ocean and silent cries, i amazed right now, dude that drummer was ambidextrous and played with open-hand technique, he also wrote the lyrics and narrates the story on the concept albums, so inspirational.

Hey Oscar,
I’m aware of Eloy’s work and have been listening to them for a while now, primarily their early stuff up to Silent Cries. Ocean was actually their first album I ever listened to. If you remember, I already did a drum chart for “Poseidon’s Creation” and “Castle In The Air”, from Floating (my personal favorite album of theirs), for the Frets On Fire drum projects. Of course, they haven’t been converted yet. I had plans to do all of Ocean along with some more songs from Floating, but it’s not a priority right now.
I’ve listened to Inside, Floating, Power And The Passion, Dawn, Ocean, Silent Cries & Mighty Echoes. I only listened to Dawn and Silent Cries once, so I’d have to listen to them again. To my knowledge, their golden period is actually up to Metromania, and one later classic called The Tide Returns Forever.
Thanks for reminding me of them. I’ll get back to working on it when I finish up some of my current prog.
