Newbie Question – Vocals editing

Hey there, folks. May be a dumb question, but figured I’d at least ask it to satisfy my curiosity.
Is there an easy way to edit already-charted vocals from a charted song? Far as I can tell its stored in the midi and this can be edited in REAPER, but that’s the extent of my knowledge.
Rather than creating the vocals from scratch I wanted to edit them myself if possible. Even if I could just change the pitched vocals to create a simple karaoke/talkie track that’d satisfy me. Was just wondering if that could be done easily or not.
EDIT: Probably doesn’t matter quite so much now as I’ve discovered I can’t easily replace the audio track anyway. I can if I intend to just use it in Clone Hero, but making a workable rb3con out of it seems a bit much for me. Sadly. Was dipping my toe in something far too deep for my liking!
