This whole operation is based on Rock Band 3, Magma, which you use to compile, makes sure charts are compliant with Rock Band standards, so it goes without saying that yes you need to work with RB standards in mind.

Hm, now im totally confused

Let’s use “The Cranberries – Zombie” song, from official C3 songs database, as example.

When im playing it on my Band Hero 5 lane drums in Phase Shift, i have all 5 lines active in this song – its redbluegreen+yellow and orange as “hi-hats”+drum kick.

But how is this possible if this song was created for RB standarts, and 4 lane RB drum kits? It should miss at least one lane – orange (which is missing in RB drum kit)

Evidently either the PS converter does some magic (Nemo would need to provide info here) or Phase Shift itself, as RB or GH do, recognizes the drum set and translates the notes accordingly.

Phase Shift is doing the magic.

Is there anything your tools actually DON’T do?

It’s a magic indeed :wth: And i’m afraid i will have to understand how this works, to make the good customs, so Phase Shift can convert them exactly as i want.

Right now im almost done with my first song, watching pksage stream, and need a little clarification on what is Pro-drums in terms of Rock Band?

    I thought there is:

Normal RB drums – 4 lane.

Normal GHBH drums – 5 lane.

Adv. RB drums – 7 lane.

Adv. GHBH drums – no such thing.

Pro. Drums – any other electronic drums kit.

But in the RBN preview both pro and std(have no idea what is this) drums have similar 4 lanes.

I never used any RB instrument (still using old ps3 Band Hero Kit), and i sold my ps3 like 4-5 years ago, using PC and Phase Shift for last 2 years, so it’s a complicated thing to me to understand all this stuff at the beginning

My question to you is, if all you do is play Phase Shift, why do you care about Rock Band at all?

The best way to understand how Rock Band works is to play it, or at the very least, watch several videos of it being played. You can’t create content for something you don’t understand, and you can’t learn to understand it without trying it out. So get in there and play the game. Or watch someone play it on YouTube.

Rock Band drums is always 4 lanes. Pro drums then throws cymbals for yellow, blue and green. They use the same lane as toms, but instead of a rectangle, you get a cymbal icon coming down the note highway. It’s still just 4 lanes. But you’re authoring for 7 different drum components (8 when counting the pedal).

    Because

    1) I don’t think we should separate from eachother, RBGHPS it’s all the same – rhythm games that unite us, the players from all around the world.

    2) I want to contribute to this community, which gave me the opportunity to play a lot of amazing songs.

    3) I want to chart and share very nice and popular songs (in my opinion), which were never have been charted before, and i want to “fix” this mistake.

    4) As well i wanna chart “unusual” for RB musical styles like SynthwaveDreamwaveOSTs.

    5) (for my personal uses) I need to learn how to make better customs, and for this i need a help and feedback. I tried to get feedback on fofix forums but without any success, thats is the one of the reasons why i stopped charting at the beginning.

    Thanks for this detailed explanation!
