Hi guys! First of all sorry for bad english

As title says – i’am a beginner in creating drums customs for Phase Shift, and i need some help.

I’ve found this site more than year ago, and downloaded a lot of songs from here. I want to say thank you for what you are doing!

Three weeks ago i’ve decided to start contributing to the community of rhytm games. Since then i’ve created 4 drum customs for Phase Shift (i don’t have a PS3 anymore, but i have Band Hero PS3 instruments connected to my PC: 5 lane drums and a guitar, +i will get new RB piano from Amazon in next few weeks), previews and download links for them can be found in my signature (since i don’t know if i can post here a direct link to my song thread at other rhytm game forum).

I’ve found a Unofficial C3 Custom Song section at this forum, where people creating customs for xbox360ps3 (which can be transformed to Phase Shift, and all thanks to your C3CONTools :excited:), and i started to think maybe i can create customs not only for Phase Shift, but also for console users?

Right now i’m using EOF for creating customs, and since i’am a beginner, i don’t even know how to do customs properly lol, i do most parts of the songs manually, by trying to recognize drum sounds <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />

So im wondering how hard it will be to change EOF to other program (which are you using for creating customs, i dont even know its name, it is Reaper or Magma, something like that), and do i even be able to test my songs for console games users at my PC?

PS I also would like to say thanks for your “approach” to your work – most tracks are multitracks with all difficulties, so a lot of peoples can enjoy them. I like it, and i’m always trying to do all difficulties on my songs, and trying to find other peoples to join me and create guitarbasspiano parts for multitracks (because i don’t have a experience at these instruments), but without success yet. Also i didn’t get any feedback on my tracks at another forum, so i don’t really know how to improve my skills <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_frown.gif” />

Hi and welcome! You can keep working in EOF if it’s easier for you, but you need to get acquainted with Reaper for a number of reasons. Start doing that, authoring in EOF and then importing the MIDI in Reaper in our template.

      Thanks for fast reply!

I’m working in EOF just because i don’t know how to use other programms (which can be better, and have more features). I bellieve i can search for tutorial videos at your site for this.

Main question is – will i be able to test songs for a console users without having a console?

The real answer is no, obviously: if you don’t have a console you can’t test anything on the console you don’t have. <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif”> However you can play all instruments except for pro keys and vocals in Reaper and you can checkout Stack Overflow’s amazing work on the Wii emulator Dolphin to test those missing instruments on a PC.

I use EOF to chart as well, more easy for pro guitar and stuff.

I mean if there is some kind of emulator for testing, or something like that, or maybe phase shift songs mostly identical on consoles <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_cheeky.001.gif” />

        that’s what i need! :wth:

Im not planning to do pro keys or vocals in the future (phase shift doesn’t even have vocals function <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_frown.gif” />, only simple lyrics), but thanks for the info!

By the way, maybe some of you have a proper tutorial links for my needs at hand? So i will not have to look through a lot of videos, and will save me a lot of time <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_cheeky.001.gif” />

There is a tutorial page here – viewtopic.php?f=12&t=2677

what I do is use Editor On Fire to chart, then use reaper to fix stuff and add the end stuff so it will work, here is some tools that will help you for reaper – viewtopic.php?f=12&t=1923 when I look at pro guitar track in reaper, It looks really hard and that is why I use Editor On Fire to chart pro guitar.

EOF can pretty much author anything Phase Shift supports except for the pro/real keys modes. For Rock Band customs, EOF’s admittedly a bit more incomplete and a real MIDI editor like Reaper is still needed to get access to 100% of the game’s features.

With Editor On Fire, it get’s the job done for charting and pro guitar is way more easy, also do you have any plans for pro keys in the future?

if you asking me – i don’t plan to chart anything except drums, because i don’t have experience at other instruments

also im little bit busy lately, still don’t have time to watch tutorial videos <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_frown.gif” />

I was talking to raynebc about that, as it would be easier in EOF then reaper as there are so many stuff for pro keyboards, also harmonies would be great for EOF.

Damn, i abandoned this thread and charting idea for almost 7 months :aaa: (all thanks to one private vanilla WoW server, released 28.02.2015 lol).

Well im still eager to share my customs to the community of c3, i need to fix them first but at least i know how to do it through EoF, main problem is, this is my face when i installed Reaper+c3 template 5 mins ago :brosius:

It does look like a jet pilot cabin to me :aaaaa:

          irrelevant

Totally confused here, will try to read documentation a bit later, don’t know if i can handle this wall of text though, im lacking of english language skills so i can easily struggle in a such big technical document.

I know i might look like a lazy, but i would be really thankful to the person who shows me the easiest path to convert my songs from “EoF and Phase Shift state” to “ps3xbox state”, so ppl can just try them (even without all cool features like starpowerssolodrumrolls etc). Maybe my musical tastes and charting skills are pathetic, so i don’t even need to bother reading all that wall of technical information texts <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_frown.gif” />

          Pattern like

          1) grab .mid + .ogg to reaper

          2) click here and convert to .bla

          3) grab .bla to magma and convert to .blabla

          4) done

would be more than enough, so i can understand how hard is this process while im reading documentation.

          Thanks for your attention!

Okay i did a lot of reading and watching videos for last days, now trying to understand what i learned. I reinstalled Reaper like 5 times before i was able to see RBN Preview plugin working >< Now im almost ready to create "new" customs. I said "new" because i will not import midi's from my EoF projects (import is a bit messed for me, notes are thin), instead i will try to make them manually from scratch in Reaper (by looking in EoF for a hints).

So one of the questions now, is it possible to create drums customs which will be enjoyable on both drum kits – 4 lane RB and 5 lane GH? (i mean, i can play any GHRB drum song on my kit, but RB users wont be able to play, lets say converted from phase shift 5 lane drums chart? Because obviously they will miss one orange pad).

So if i want to share my customs with RB users, then im forced to make only 4 lane drums charts? Or there is some trick?

This whole operation is based on Rock Band 3, Magma, which you use to compile, makes sure charts are compliant with Rock Band standards, so it goes without saying that yes you need to work with RB standards in mind. <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif”>
