Hi Everyone,
(Skip to paragraph below to go to the problem) This is my first time posting. A little background on myself: I purchased RB3 from somebody in January, before that I’ve had RB 1 & 2 on the Wii since 2016. Found out about these customs and downloaded about 100 of them along with official DLC. I’ve been working on a song for about 2 weeks now. Charting for all 5 parts is done after about 30 hours of work. Most of the time spent was figuring out the software and RB tools.
I’ve exported the MIDI and am trying to test the MIDI with Magma. After I test it and it finds all of the instruments, the message below appears:
Nemo’s MIDI AutoGen process started.
Added drum mix events successfully.
Nemo’s MIDI AutoGen process completed.
Starting Basic EMH Check..
ERROR: Could not load MIDI file to check if charts have lower difficulties.
Ready to send files to MagmaCompiler … hold on.
Output from MagmaCompiler follows:

ERROR: MIDI Compiler: (MIDI FILE): bad track name: ‘PART DRUMSxÿ[mix ‘
MIDI Compiler: Done.
MagmaCompiler reported some errors. Please see the log for details on what must be fixed.I couldn’t find any forum post about loading the MIDI file to check if charts have lower difficulties, and I am unsure how to fix the 2nd error. My track name for this is “PART DRUMS” and remains unchanged from the RB REAPER template. I even tried to remove the text events from the drums and the same error message shows up. Right now I am stuck and would appreciate any help. I can send the file if needed.
Thank you!

Make sure that both the tracks highlighted in red are labeled as shown in the image:
May 30, 2020 at 6:17 am #511768Hi Bansheeflyer,
Thank you for the warm welcome. I look forward to creating more songs and possibly helping others chart if it is a song I am interested in. I was able to fix the bad track names, some of them were completely gone. However, I have more new error messages I cannot find the solution to.

You may drag another MIDI or just click Close to exit.As you can see, my lyrics must be pretty messy. This might be due to the fact that I realized some of my tracks were at 1.1.06 and I had to shift them back to 1.1.00. I deleted all of the old lyrics and text events, then I used CAT to bring back in the text events and Shift + L to import lyrics, and those errors still show up. There were no meta events like in this post http://customscreators.com/index.php?/topic/18679-solved-reaper-exporting-lyric-events-out-of-thin-air/?hl=%2Bmissing+%2Blyric
All help is appreciated. I would not mind sending over the file if that means it will help assist further. It said I was not allowed to post screenshots to this post, so here is a link to a few snips I saved as evidence for the first 3 error messages. https://drive.google.com/file/d/16Jiv5YtbCbfGc03gC3o49PoD7EJhleDM/view?usp=sharing
May 30, 2020 at 7:38 am #511769All those errors are business as usual when using Reaper, sometimes it’s our fault overlooking something, other times it’s Reaper’s messing up things seemingly at random (also one very common way to introducing errors is using Undo, as it’s sometimes very hard to really see what is being changed back).
You just have to get used to seeing errors, and learn to fix them according to what the error says, because in most cases the error already tells you that!
Misaligned lyrics means a lyrics event is not exactly located at the beginning of a vocal note in one of the vocal tracks. Go at that location and check that when you select the note, the lyrics event is also highlighted. If it doesn’t highlight, it means it’s not linked to the note, which means they are at slightly different times, even if they look so on the screen. You can fix these manually by moving the note or the event back and forth until they move together, or by opening the lyrics event and manually entering the time value equal to the note.
Phrases errors exactly mean that you haven’t covered all notes (their entire duration) with phrase markers.
Overlapping errors are also self-explanatory, and it might be that notes merely touching each other also trigger this.
May 30, 2020 at 8:12 am #511770I have been getting into the habit of – when I am done charting the lyrics, I will delete them all and then import them one last time to avoid any mis-aligned lyrics.
Also, you can mute your vocals and try to compile just to see if that is the only problem left. I do remember where you are at and it is frustrating, but it will be well worth it when you figure it out!
Actually that might be the better solution to start with, try just compiling 1 instrument at a time and dealing with anything that comes up with that until you are comfortable fixing errors, and trust me when I say, even the most advanced author gets magma errors!!
May 30, 2020 at 6:37 pm #511787This is standard business for Rock Band charting. Trust me when I say that if your chart compiles perfectly first time that it’s nothing short of a miracle!
Good luck in your charting adventures.
May 30, 2020 at 8:17 pm #511790Thank you all for the advice. Per rubydanger, I started to export MIDIs 1 instrument at a time. Bass and Guitar pass the inspection. Pro key and vocals are a mess that I am postponing for the sake of my sanity; I might just try to copy and pasted into a brand new reaper file. I am getting these errors for drums and keys respectively:
Found PART DRUMS…
ERROR: MIDI Compiler: (PART DRUMS): Gem at [107:4:360] in expert difficulty has a duration of 123 ticks; max is 120Notes for this error: I have only 2 tempo markers in this song. One at 1.1.00 and one at the end right before the [end] marker. I read other forum posts which include deleting and reposting the notes, tempo marking, snapping all notes to the grid, and making sure each note length is 1/16. There is a note at 107.4.00 and 107.4.75, but nothing at 107.4.36 and no note extends to that part. It is, however, in an overdrive phrase and the notes surrounding it are Tom notes, but I don’t know if that has to do with anything.
Found PART KEYS…
ERROR: MIDI Compiler: (MIDI FILE): Could not find MIDI track authored for real_keys, possibly due to incorrect track name event
Notes for this error: I Ctrl + left clicked the PART KEYS, VENUE, BEATS, and EVENTS and exported. Pro keys were not muted but were also not included in this export. PART KEYS is the track name at 1.1.00. Then when I included PART KEYS ANIM_LH & RH and exported, this long error message appears.

at 1:1:000As always, any help is very appreciated.

ERROR: MIDI Compiler: (PART DRUMS): Gem at [107:4:360] in expert difficulty has a duration of 123 ticks; max is 120
Notes for this error: I have only 2 tempo markers in this song. One at 1.1.00 and one at the end right before the [end] marker. I read other forum posts which include deleting and reposting the notes, tempo marking, snapping all notes to the grid, and making sure each note length is 1/16. 107:4:360 means 107th bar, 4th beat and 360th tick as opposed to reaper which says 107th bar, 4.75th beat. 120 ticks is 1/16th so that gem at 107.4.75 is 3 ticks too long. You can manually fix that by selecting that note, right click and go into properties where you can enter the length of the note manually.

To focus on the first error, notes 58 and 62 are the top 2 notes of a three-note chord. Picture of the first three chords is attached here. I deleted and added the note, checked for doubles, and ensured the notes line up. It seems to only happen to two of the three notes when there are chords. When going from export to hard and the rest of the difficultties, note 62 is removed so I don’t understand how it can be a double. Any fix for this specific error? Any help is appreciated. PM if you would like the rpp file ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
