    This is completely stumping me

    Magma error:

ERROR: MIDI Compiler: (PART VOCALS): Misaligned lyric at [21:1:462] (expected at [21:1:461])
ERROR: MIDI Compiler: (PART VOCALS): Misaligned note at [23:1:302] (expected at [23:1:294])
ERROR: MIDI Compiler: (PART VOCALS): Misaligned lyric at [23:1:401] (expected at [23:1:400])
Screenshot of whats actually there in REAPER:
As you can see there is nothing even at 21.1.462 to begin with.

Make sure those lyric events are in the middle of the vocal tubes. You can highlight all the lyric events and then hold “shift A” and then all the lyric events will align automatically to the beginning of the vocal tubes. Magma will then not give you those errors. Good luck!

Very helpful. Thank you. Too bad I stayed up way longer than I wanted to fixing all this. Hope it works tomorrow…

Import lyrics from a text file and nothing bad will ever happen. <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif”>

So much this. I waited way too long before trying this. Importing lyrics takes a bit of getting used to when you started out doing everything manually but it’s more than worth it.

I did, it got messed up because I had already charted slides <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_frown.gif” />

That is the biggest adjustment: not doing everything right away. My hands ache when I have to leave a slide for later. You can do it right away but than it’s best to add a plus at the right spot in the lyrics file at the same time. You can do it later but that will often result in retries and loss of time.

That said: editing the lyrics file after charting the notes beats having to deal with lots of alignment errors.

Not sure how you mean, but remember that CAT has an automatic Add Slides command that allows you to add any slide you want with any amount of notes you want and iuf you have already laid down your lyrics it will attach a ‘+’ lyrics event to any note with no lyrics attached. Saves tons of time.

What I did was I had selected all lyrics including slides because I wasnt thinking too much and added lyrics to everything, so it would add lyrics to slide notes that shouldve been just +, basically stuff that wont happen again.

Anyway if anyone can critque my actual vocal charting like if I need to make some high notes higher and some low notes lower that would be appreciated.
