Hey, wasn’t sure if this was the appropriate place to ask this, mainly because it doesn’t exactly pertain to authoring, but anyway, is it possible to modify the song.dta files for official DLC or on-disc songs? I’m planning on making a (personal) effective rebalancing of the difficulty values of some official songs, because of how many of them I disagree with. Would this be possible to do, and if so, how would I go about doing it? Thanks in advance.

You can with c3 con tools but you won’t be able to play online with them anymore

I believe you can also do it with the RBHP method of doing things. But you’d need to ask in espher’s thread.

Thanks, I’ve already relinquished online capabilities by having customs, so no big deal. I’ll look into it more, thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Just make sure you convert them to con format. I spend some time a few weeks ago changing the no doubt and iron maiden songs to reflect their original albums and forgot to do so…the changes won’t take.

If you use C3 CON Tools, the proper way would be with Quick DTA Editor, and that saves the file as a CON file ready for your Xbox. If it wasn’t showing up it’s because you’ll need to re-do your song cache to have these changes reflect in game.

Don’t worry, I’m aware of the quick DTA editor and CON files, but I’m just wondering if the on-disc/DLC songs are usable in the same way that any other custom is, importable using the DTA editor? As in, I don’t need to do anything fancy, save for the exporting process, right? (Sorry for wording all this so terribly, I have next to no idea what I’m talking about)

On disc songs obviously not. DLC and exports yes.
