Hey y’all

I’m still in the mixing phase of working on The Yeah Yeah Yeah Song by The Flaming Lips and I don’t know what I should be doing for the drums. The stems have the percussion split into three tracks: drum kit, handclaps, and assorted percussion (bongos, extra snare, etc). I’m not a drummer so I don’t quite have the ear or experience to know how to arrange the drum track to be fun and approachable. If anyone else has the stems and/or has an idea of what should be played when, I’d be eternally grateful.

Usually play what you can hear. In my disney songs there was a whole bunch of percussion mixed in with drums. I ended up just doing the drum kit because that was the easiest to hear

Do what drives the song or what you think is most fun, but pick one, don’t mix them. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”> If you can and it needs it, bump the part you’re authoring up a bit so that it stands out more.
