Nick Menza has tragically passed away at the age of 51. What’s even more heartbreaking is how Nick passed, dying while performing with Ohm in California. During the third song of the band’s set, Nick collapsed, having suffered a major heart attack. He was pronounced deceased upon arrival to the hospital.

Nick was a member of the classic Megadeth lineup in the early 90’s. Along with Marty Friedman, Dave Ellefson and Dave Mustaine, the lineup produced quality albums, including Rust in Peace, which is my favorite album of all time.

Nick’s playing always served as the percussive backbone to whatever project he was a part of. His multi-faceted skill set made him a one of a kind talent. We offer our condolences, energy and strength to the fans and friends of Nick. Rest in Peace, the greatest gig awaits.

Jesus H. Christ 2016, what the hell is wrong with you?

While it is tragic how and when he died, especially at 51, he did die doing what he loved.

Wow thats brutal. Dying while playing a gig. Even though I really liked Gar Samuelson’s style of playing, Nick Menza was really great too on those albums from the early 90’s.

R.I.P. Nick, a great drummer and an even better person. JEEZ LOUEEZE!!! WHAT THE HELL 2016? Is this gonna be the year the music died? Its a dark thought but I wonder what the count is up too? My opinion, we’ve lost the most talent and ground breakers this year. This SUCKS

Very sad and tragic, but when it’s my time, I hope to god its while I’m doing something that I love.
