So I was an Idiot and I totally forgot to start out with my first lyric event actually being a lyric event so now all of my lyrics are text events. Is there ANY way possible to mass change all of those events from text to lyrics? I’d hate to have to go through EVERY SINGLE EVENT by hand?
July 21, 2017 at 6:51 am #488186The RPP project file is pure text, so you could probably open it in any decent text editor, search for the start of the lyrics and use the replace function to change the text events to lyrics events. Just change the first lyric in REAPER first, so you know the code it uses.
Next time, it’s probably better to import the lyrics from text, using the Shift+L shortcut.

Thing is is I hand type the lyrics into reaper. I find that only a small amount of lyrics online actually are correct. So I listen and type what I hear.

Wow. I don’t use cat but now I might have to. Thanks.

Every time you do something that CAT can do without using CAT, a baby otter is eaten alive. True story.
July 21, 2017 at 5:07 pm #488201I thought it was a baby seal was raped by a dolphin?

Well the only thing I thought that CAT did was reductions (maybe drum animations but IDK). I chart my own drum animations and reductions anyway. So I haven’t needed to use it.

Glad I haven’t had to look for this yet, also glad it’s there!

So do I, but I put it all into a text file, with the necessary +’s etc. that Rock Band needs for slides. Afterwards, I can import in one step.

Well I have my own way of authoring vocals. First I generically write out the note tubes for the entire song, and sometimes I miss slides on my first go through of the song. So like all 1/8th notes and on. Then I type out all the lyrics. Then I go through, adding any slides I missed and then cutting the consonants out.
July 21, 2017 at 10:37 pm #488212What do you mean 1/8th notes?

Oh like. As a general placement of notes and pitches I use 1/8th (1/16th if the song is slow) to start out with. It’s just to give me an idea of what goes where.

I wish people would look more into what CAT has to offer. I know everyone has their own preferences when it comes to charting and it can be quite annoying to make Python work on REAPER, but CAT allows you to work so much faster (drums animations, phrase markers, reducing 2x bass pedal, fixing sustains on converts… I use it A LOT).
I prefer importing a text file for lyrics as well (as well as adding @s for generating phrase markers with CAT) because I find it much faster and it avoids having errors regarding misaligned lyrics.

I think for some reason a lot of people think they are better than the tools offered. I’m not referring to i0brendan0 directly, I mean generally. I read a lot of “No, I prefer to do things manually, thet turn out better” that honestly makes no sense. For example, do people really trim sustains manually? Do they realize that sustains need to be trimmered to exact specifications that CAT follows perfectly and it takes 1 second to do them? For drums animations you still need to copy all your notes to the animation section first, which is what CAT does. Don’t like they way it comes out? Change it around, but at least most of the work is done. Etc. etc.
Anyway, sorry for hijacking the thread. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif”>
