The leads I’m working with aren’t quiet, they are very much obviously there, just more mixed in, and the rhythm is drowning it out to where it’s a little too hard to hear.

Does anybody know of a method that can bring those guitar leads out more.

If the rhythm guitar is mixed to the center but the lead isn’t, or the other way around, you can try to isolate or cancel the center with various plugins which I think are included with REAPER. If it’s mostly in the left or right channel, consider only listening to that channel. If it’s played much higher on the neck, some eq can bring it out without bringing up the rhythm too much.

        Sorry for the late reply.

And sorry for my noobishness, I’m still getting used to Reaper. What plugins would I use to do the center isolation/cancel, I’ve tried some but none of them seem to have the option.

There’s a plugin called “JS: Center Canceler” but it’s not a guarantee. It just removes anything that’s mixed down the center and brings out anything that’s panned left and right (creating a mono track of it, I believe). Usually you’ll get keys and harmonies clearer this way, but it’s worked for guitar for me on occasion.

Beyond that, you can open up ReaEQ and boost the low mids (around where the 2 band is on the default setup), but that will only do so much.

Thank you. Just tried it on the particular song I needed this for and it works great. <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
