I just compiled a song, and was told that “something went wrong converting RBA to CON. Try using RB3Maker.”

Curious, I tested out a chart I had successfully converted two months back. Same error. So I seem to have broken Magma. Any ideas?

That’s a new one to me. Only suggestion I have is to give Magma a clean install and see if the error repeats. If so, I might want to look at this project to see what’s going on behind the scenes.

Put in a new Magma, ran it again, and got the same error messages. Here is the clipboard:

Your RBA file is fine, try converting it with C3 CON Tools in the meantime.

Strange. I’ll have to add this one to the to-do list. Is your older project also throwing an error with the new Magma install?

Yes, same error.

However, I ran the new rba file through Con Converter, and that went fine. Made an rbcon. Just play-tested it, and it worked fine.

So, for the time being, looks like making a con will be a two-step process. Weird.

I’m still not sure what could cause that error, but I’m happy to hear you found a workaround. If you haven’t tried already, I might suggest installing Magma to a completely different directory, to see if that makes any difference. Beyond that, whenever you feel like tackling this again, I’m willing to look at your project files to see if I can reproduce the error on my system.

Hey guys, just purchased Magma Evo but I get this error when trying to install it. I ready have preferenceLoader installed so I’m not sure what the problem is

That’s an entirely different kind of Magma. The Magma here refers to a tool for building customs to play in Rock Band 3. You’ll want to look elsewhere for Magma Evo support.
