I’m currently finishing up a song and I’ve already finished Bass, Drums, Keys and Guitar and now I only have the Vocals left, but…
Instead of testing when I finish, I usually test the song even when there’s parts of the Vocals undone
So I went to test them and Magma didn’t give me any errors, it was compiled successfully.
Then I converted the song to Wii and played it there; activated all instruments mode so I could see the Harmonies and then this happened (pardon the bad image quality, I didn’t have a better camera at the time):
I found it weird and spent more than an hour trying to find the cause but everything’s fine on reaper, the lyrics are properly written and everything is synced; Magma doesn’t give me any errors.
I even tried using the Song Analyzer tool of CON Tools to check the lyrics after building the song and all the lyrics are just fine there.
What’s weird is that the song starts off normally, then the lyrics disappear exactly at this part:
And they stay like this for a good portion of the song;
Then they come back here:
for some reason they appear in Italics even though I typed them normally.
And then after a while they disappear again only to come back normally again.
I’ve already tried doing a lot of stuff, changing the scrolling speed, changing animation speed, changing text encoding but I’ve been having no success at all. Could anyone help me?

Why does that happen, though? Is there a linit on how many words can be in a single phrase?
Also even after resizing the phrases there are some words missing, why could that be?
There are some that are still big and have some lyrics missing in Harm 2 due to having to cover Harm 3, is there a way to go around that?
August 21, 2015 at 3:08 pm #453220Also even after resizing the phrases there are some words missing, why could that be?Are the missing words happening at the end of phrases? When set to scrolling vocals, I’ve noticed the game will clip the final word of a phrase if the associated note is not long enough to let the word fit without writing over the next phrase marker. Switching to static vocals makes those words appear. To make the words appear when scrolling, you can try making the last note of each affected phrase longer, which is fine as long as the note doesn’t butt up against the first note of the next phrase, and as long as “encouraging” singers to hold that note a little longer doesn’t make the vocals sound funny.
There are some that are still big and have some lyrics missing in Harm 2 due to having to cover Harm 3, is there a way to go around that?Yes and no. If HARM2 and HARM3 have different lyrics, only one set will appear. That’s just a limitation of the game. However, you can control which set appears. The harmony section of the authoring docs explains how to use the “$” symbol to hide either HARM2’s or HARM3’s lyrics. If one of them happens to be singing the same thing as HARM1, then you can hide that set and safely assume the other set will appear. If all three singers are singing different things, then you’ll have to make some judgment calls on what to show and what to hide. (Edit: I may have misunderstood you. If the lyrics are disappearing not because HARM2 and HARM3 have different words, then take Farrotone’s advice and make your phrases shorter.)

There is but since the days of RBN nobody has figured out the rationale.

Same way, you need to split them.

Then what am I supposed to do? I didn’t change anything, it just disappears.
And yes, it’s just the final word in the phrase. It only happens there though.
…Same way, you need to split them.
Uh… Wait, what? I thought I needed to have Vocal Phrases in H2 to cover the ones in H3? Or is that not necessary?
August 21, 2015 at 7:40 pm #453246You’re confusing having phrase markers with having one long phrase marker. The problem here is not how many you have, is how long they are. Just split them up into smaller markers…just do it in a way that makes sense with what is being sung.
Unless it’s a computer singing, the singer needs oxygen and phrases have a normal rhythm and length to them as a result. Follow that.

Yeah I think I understood that, but I alrady had multiple phrase markers, it wasn’t just a single long one;
I was just extending each of them so it would reach the length of Harm 3’s phrase markers.
As long as it isn’t excessively long it’s alright I guess, then?
