So, I found out about a week ago that reaper can AUTOMATICALLY place lyrics by the note for you. Here’s the video:

Now that I’m finally aware, I tried it myself.
It didn’t work.

I did everything in the video, Ctrl+A (select all), Shift L, and clicked the lyrics, but they still come messed up, separated by beats and not placed by notes.
What I find suspicious is that in the video, he doesn’t have the options of

Divide lyrics on: Any Whitespace or Tabs every 0.25, 0.5, 1, 2, 4 beats.

Can anyone help fix this or explain if I’m doing it wrong?

That’s a video by a mod here which is in the set of videos every new charter should watch. It’s in a pinned topic in the Authoring Support area.

 

You need to give more than that as to what actually happened. What do you mean separated by beats?

 

It can be helpful to link us to the lyric file you are using to see what obvious issues it might have. Did you format the lyrics correctly already? (ie, hyphenated out and such)

It is hyphenated, here are screenshots:

Seperated by beats came with it. I did format them, hyphenated and separated by spaces.

Hmmm, no idea. Can you take a screen of the what pops up after* you import the lyrics. I don’t know what you’re talking about with the “separated by beats”. I’ve never seen that.

 

However, I do see that you are using REAPER v5.x to work with. To me knowledge, you should be staying with 4.22? That may be your issue. I’m assuming the import lyrics has more options in the 5.x versions and you may need to select something different (if there is a dropdown or something instead of “per beat”).

AUGH! YES. YOU’RE A LIFE SAVER. I downgraded to 4.22 and now it works! Thank you so so so much!
