Ok this one is a bit odd but easy to explain.

whenever I start up rock band 3 it loads just fine no problem

the issue lies in the “finding downloadable content” portion which is fine on boot up

BUT if I was to put a USB stick in my xbox or take one out or delete a song while it re-loads the library it hangs on “finding new songs” then freezes the xbox then i have to restart

any idea? could it be a song cache issue?

Do you have two separate sticks for TU5 and TU4?

      #415659

      I have a stick for TU4

I run under TU4 and not sure if it matters but I have customs/real DLC RBN included along with a lot of the RB:HP add ons as well.

So you have not TU5 and no TU5 cache installed?

        #415661

Yeah I have no TU5 installed just TU4.

I’ve had this type if issue before except it would freeze completely just loading the library but I found out it was a custom causing the issue so I deleted it and it worked fine.

this error is similar except freezes after initial library load if I delete a song freezes on “loading new downloading content.

I suppose a fresh new cache is the way to go.

Yeah that sounds like a good idea I’ve exhausted a lot of options I know and I will try that and update what happens.

Sorry for second reply not sure if that’s a rule or not BUT I did some more experimentation I noticed when I removed the RB:HP completely and had a new song cache it worked fine so it must be something in my Input folder via RB:HP that is conflicting and making the freeze it’s not a missing .dta or .mid I don’t believe.

Could be. Do you have any standalone pro guitar upgrades that may conflict? That’s often a culprit. Otherwise, it could be the fact that you’re live-swapping USB sticks — I thought someone reported that to me as a problem w/ RBHP long ago but I’ll be damned if I can find it in my notes.

If not, my recommendation would be to try and test half of the set or folders at a time. To simplify, if you have folders A, B, C, and D, test with only A and B. If it freezes, you know it’s either A or B, so test with A; if it doesn’t, you know it’s either C or D, so test with C. Just start with half your set, and then keep halving the set that apparently caused the crash until you narrow it down somewhat. <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”>

I do have some standalone pro guitar upgrades that might be conflicting from it the ones that do come from RB:HP so I’ll start be removing those if not all of them and then try the second recommendation and update on my progress

If you have a pro guitar upgrade for a song with an RB:HP upgrade, and load both, the game definitely will crash.

You can merge them or just drop one or the other.

I believe that includes the ones offered via RB:HP seeing as they’re separate?

that would make sense problems didn’t arrive until I put it those pro guitar upgrades

what about pro drums/vocal tonic does those conflict

for now I’ll just remove the pro guitar ones do some re-arranging.

              EDIT

well I removed all the pro guitar ones but it still freezes at the

“loading new downloaded content 14/14 loaded”

So, just to make sure, your input folder should only have the ‘base’ folders (I’d get you a screenshot but I’m not at home), e.g.

                Lego Rock Band

                Rock Band

                Rock Band 2

                Rock Band DLC 2007

                Rock Band DLC 2008

                Rock Band DLC 2009

                Rock Band DLC 2010

[and the other years if you were using PG upgrades or fixes]

                Rock Band Network

                Rock Band Network Pro Drums

If you have the “– Optional Upgrades” folder in there, it shouldn’t be there — if you want to use any of those upgrades, you should be replacing the ‘base’ upgrade with that version. For example, if you wanted keys for “Summer of ’69”, you would go into “– Optional UpgradesKeysLego Rock Band”, copy the summerof69 folder, and paste it over top of the original which should be in your input folder. Your “downloaded file” folder should be separate from your “input” folder as a rule.

If that’s not the case, I’m not sure what to tell you — it could be freezing because of the hot swap of sticks if you’re plugging in/unplugging USB keys as you play.
