Still not sure what’s up with the file size. The wav length is fine and everything, so I’m at a bit of a loss. If anyone wants to take a look I can upload the audio and REAPER files.
Aside from that, I noticed earlier that harmonies were not playable in-game because I forgot to set the dryvox files for them. I’ve reuploaded a new version with that fixed, so you can now rock out to those delicious harmonies with two friends!
March 15, 2014 at 9:20 pm #415611What’s wrong with the dta? Any time I try to make an edit it it, it completely corrupts it! I can’t even add the song to my customs pack.
March 15, 2014 at 9:38 pm #415612Wav size is determined by quality setting in magma. You should be at 5.
As far as dta editing c16 make sure c3 con tools is doing it correctly. I was notified of a permissions error that may be the issue.

March 15, 2014 at 11:08 pm #415616Then look at what youre feeding it. It should be more or less the size of an mp3 file
March 15, 2014 at 11:33 pm #415617I looked at the file. The ‘blank.wav’ files you’re using are NOT blank files.
How do I know? Because the mogg file is 28MB even though only two channels show any audio present. So it’s not Magma messing up and duplicating the channels. The mogg shows a bunch of “silent” channels and then the two backing channels. I use my code to auto-separate the mogg into oggs, and all channels save at about 4.9MB except the backing, which saves at about 5.8MB. If I open any one of those 4.9MB ogg files it looks like silence.
I’m not at home so I have no access to Audition from the laptop, but I’m willing to bet those “silent” files are not truly silent and there’s data there keeping the file size at nearly 5MB per file instead of the 20KB or so it should be.
The easy fix for this? Use the blank audio files that Magma includes. No reason for you to manually create them.

Well… Trojan beat me!
After reading through the comments, I already knew the problem… This is a common a problem I’ve seen with some of the customs I ended up fixing. Normally for me, I’ll just use Audacity and mute the whole entire track of a song then move the beginning marker a tiny bit over and cut off the rest… Thusly leaving the “blank” track a very very small file, which might just be only a second long… Might.
March 15, 2014 at 11:50 pm #415619I was under that the impression that the audio files all had to be the same length in Magma or the song wouldn’t work. If that’s not the case, then I’ve got some work to do…
March 15, 2014 at 11:53 pm #415620Not correct at all. Magma uses the longest audio track and pads the shorter ones in the mogg with silence to be of equal length.
Point is that when compressing from PCM to mogg blank files shrink down to almost nothing. The fact that those audio files are coming up to nearly 5mb shows there is some sort of data there and not true silence.

May 11, 2014 at 3:51 pm #419995Uh, hey guys. It’s been a little while, but I have something new for you all:
Converted from Guitar Hero: Van Halen
Link: http://kngi.org/rb/conversions/vanhalen … rb3con.zip
This song is so stupid, and I love it. It’s by no means perfect, but it’s playable. Let me know if there are any issues!
May 11, 2014 at 8:02 pm #420011Good job Kyle, look forward to trying this out this afternoon
