I have the basic ION Drum Rocker kit but am interested in adding an additional pedal. How would I go about integrating this onto the kit for sole use as a hi-hat pedal.
Also, what considerations should there be as far as ‘customs’ are concerned in order to include/allow for a pedal such that an open/closed hi-hat strike is ‘heard’ by the song?
Thanks
As far as I know, the only thing a hi-hat pedal does is change the sound during OD fills/BRE sections, and you will need third party modding for it to affect gameplay. If you manage to do that, I think closed will count as Yellow cymbal and open will count as Blue, so it depends on the song if hats are charted in that manner or not
There should exist addon gear packs for Ions that adds hi-hat pedal support
You need a switching device to make it work, and yes it should switch between down for yellow and up for blue, with an option to just be yellow in case you’re pounding a double bass with your left leg at the time. The Ion doesn’t support a hi-hat pedal out of the box.
rockbandkickbox used to make such a device, but their store is now closed. If/when my KickWire for bass drum dies, I’ll probably an Alesis Trigger I/O (which seems to have been bough out/rebranded as DDrums Triger I/O?) and run it through an MPA.
