May 16, 2015 at 2:26 pm #445660The reason I’m so confident it’s the vocals improvisation feature it’s because they’ve previously shown how they author it in Reaper, so now that we can see it in game it makes sense. They author in one 1/8 or similar note for each valid note for the section creating a big chord in Reaper, that’s it. So there’s a hard point where the chord hits and all valid notes are available to hit. And thank you HMX for not having introduce this in a pre-customs era because it would have been brutal. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />
Bah – either you or Nemo would have created (will create???) a program to ease the pain. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif” />

May 17, 2015 at 7:50 pm #445740I doubt it, but I’m hoping that because they have to essentially recompile every song for RB4 separately from RB3, that some of the early songs will get a polish. For example Black Hole Sun has some vocal notes that actually could use a vocal slide of some sort as opposed to being a straight note. Again I doubt it, but since they are implementing MIDIs for harmonies, maybe they’ll take a look at the 8+ year old charts. You can kinda tell that early songs weren’t as polished because harmonix themselves were getting used to how everything worked.
May 18, 2015 at 7:24 am #445773So were they just showing symphony of destruction to show off how an old song looks in the new game, or are they pulling a GH and having old songs in the new game?
Also, yeah, underwhelming to say the least. I was expecting a lot more, especially since they’re eliminating stuff like pro guitar and keys.

It would be really cool if the game came with some kind of store credits towards the massive DLC catalog, but I don’t think they’re going to stick pre-existing songs onto the disc and count them as part of the main setlist. It would handicap their marketing.

Definitely something they won’t do.
May 19, 2015 at 8:09 pm #445879May 19, 2015 at 8:45 pm #445884It does sounds kind of fun. It might make it a little more interested, even exciting, to play a Show with the band.
I hope it co-exists with the classic single play and setlist play. That would be dumb to replace simple choose-and-play features.
It will be interesting to see what it will be like with a super large and unwieldy song library. I hope the filters will be more robust this time, and at least include the 1-lighter filter feature. That will let me like a bit more I think.
I also hope that Party Shuffle mode returns, as I have been playing that a lot lately. Although I can see how Shows would be a decent replacement, more options = better.
At this point I think I’m most interested in seeing the Tour Mode. And the rest of the setlist of course.
May 19, 2015 at 11:40 pm #445896That’s starting to sound cool. For “regular” bands where your members want to master (and are fine with) all material, perhaps. And this approach would be great for a World Tour mode, to give you a bit more agency in your setlist selections.
But as with others who have chimed in, any RB party or pub night I’ve ever been to in the past 6 years has been run like karaoke night. They keep talking up how much better it is than “scrolling through a long list for 15 minutes”, but if you print out your catalog on paper (or even have in on a laptop: C3 CON Tools!) then people can decide while others are playing. Singer picks the song, then people pick up instruments as available.
So it may be splitting hairs, but I just don’t see this as an ersatz ‘party mode’ as they allude to it. Heck, just the fact that they aren’t showing difficulty selection between songs is a no-go for us: here, people swap off instruments too much to keep it on the same difficulty. That, again, leads me to believe that it would play better for “regular” bands.

That, again, leads me to believe that it would play better for “regular” bands. They do show several times difficulty being changed. It’s just during a song showing off that changing difficulty no longer requires a pause when in song. Where it’s not stated I would think the menu you pull up during a song can be brought up in-between them.
May 20, 2015 at 11:48 pm #445987I think this is going to be farottone’s favorite new feature:
May 21, 2015 at 9:11 pm #446039May 22, 2015 at 12:45 am #446046Finally some new information. This video makes it tempting for me to sell all my current instruments to get these new ones in a full band pack. I’m already going to have to buy some sort of USB dongle to make my current ones work anyway. Hmmm…..
May 22, 2015 at 1:04 am #446047I’m interested in the guitar solely for the auto calibration features.
I’d like the new Mic too.
No need for the drums. If my iONs don’t work, I’m done with drums.
