May 15, 2015 at 11:22 pm #445616Also, to the people saying it is alpha. Isn’t the game supposed to come out in a few months? So I doubt it will change much. (BTW, the animations are 1:1 copied from Rock Band 3, kinda lazy.)
Consider the RB1 “Welcome to the Jungle” leak (prototype, not even pre-alpha) vs. the one they demo’d on Gamespot vs. the released product. Things move very, very fast, and it’s entirely possible that art changes are done and ready and they put together a Q&D UI for the purposes of this (I can tell you whenever I build something it’s function first with a rough aesthetic mockup and then the final product gets ‘prettied up’).
That’s not saying this will be, but just that it’s not uncommon.
I think companies putting out marketing “alphas” and marketing “betas” really confuse the issue.
May 16, 2015 at 12:06 am #445620Anyone happen to know if with the new notes in the drum fills thing, that if you miss a note does it break your multiplier? Or is it non penalizing like if you missed a note in rock band 3,
May 16, 2015 at 12:26 am #445624Anybody noticed during Heartbreaker, there are now notes at the end where there used to be a BRE.I noticed that and thought it was weird because from what I remember drums weren’t charted under the BRE fills, only guitar and bass.
Actually just checked the Heartbreaker midi and there aren’t any notes during the BRE for drums. There are only notes for animations. So maybe they did something where RB4 will generate drum notes to play for BREs based on the drum animation notes.
Maybe some authorable BREs are being treated like the new authored fills? It would make sense for some songs, but not others.
The singer interaction between songs thing really stuck out to me as awkward. I hope it can be turned off or ignored. 99% of my Rock Band time is jam sessions, not RPing, and this otherwise looks like a fun mode.

May 16, 2015 at 1:14 am #445629Speaking of RBN, have they mentioned anything about that?I believe the official response I received was: “There are no plans to bring RBN back on either console at this time.”
A pity! Some of my all-time RB faves are tracks from “unknown” RBN bands.
May 16, 2015 at 1:15 am #445630Whats with all those lines on vocals? What’s the point of having them?Hrm, can’t tell without seeing it in motion and synced to sound, but maybe they were quarter note beats to help people with sight-reading?

It’s the improv thingy.

To be clear I mean all vertical line of dots that keep shifting throughout the song on vocals. If it’s for vocal improvs why do I see them even during the percussion section?
May 16, 2015 at 1:48 am #445635They mentioned Badfinger by Baby Blue a couple of times in the live stream as a song the IGN people want to see in the game. May want to grab it from C3 if you want it for RB3. For me RB4 needs to be super impressive if I am going to buy an XB1 since there is nothing else I’d use it for.
May 16, 2015 at 1:51 am #445636-The singer’s name is Naomi Kyle, she is a public figure – just Google her if you were curious, as I know some of us wereForget her. What’s the drummer’s name?
May 16, 2015 at 1:57 am #445638Different strokes huh. Didn’t catch the drummer’s name. Either the drummer or the other was Esmeralda, but not sure which one.

It’s for the vocal improv. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”> And you probably see them because they are set not based on vocals but based on the chords, so they’re there whether vocals are present in any given section. I suppose a 5 minutes instrumental break would be an exception.
May 16, 2015 at 4:30 am #445640Best news today was no song limit cap like we probably assumed that already but at least Pope confirmed it. Also it was pretty awesome to hear Pope mention the RBHP. Woot!

So in effect, it can also act as timing cues for sight-reading! ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
Man, if they have all that chord data intact, I would love it if they could display that scrolling with the vocal chart so you could play real rhythm guitar along with it. Would make a great tool for rehearsing open mic sets. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />

The reason I’m so confident it’s the vocals improvisation feature it’s because they’ve previously shown how they author it in Reaper, so now that we can see it in game it makes sense. They author in one 1/8 or similar note for each valid note for the section creating a big chord in Reaper, that’s it. So there’s a hard point where the chord hits and all valid notes are available to hit. And thank you HMX for not having introduce this in a pre-customs era because it would have been brutal. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif”>
