Whats with those vertical dotted lines on vocals? What’s the point of having them?
May 15, 2015 at 7:35 pm #445586I don’t look how the game looks. Why is everything on the note highway glowing? And they removed the old animations for notes getting hit and the kick note animations. Yeah it’s very minor stuff but something I noticed right away that make it look worse than previous games
Also I think the song menu is a downgrade compared to RB3.
The changing difficulty without pausing is a cool feature though, so there’s that at least
I’m hoping most of these things are due to it being an alpha version, but honestly they won’t make it or break it for me.

May 15, 2015 at 8:00 pm #445589– Countdown to when your part starts
– PS3 legacy instruments confirmed to work (on PS4? – wasn’t said)
– song limit “not a concern” this time around
– what we’re seeing is Pre-Alpha
The singer’s name is Naomi Kyle, she is a public figure – just Google her if you were curious, as I know some of us were
May 15, 2015 at 8:02 pm #445590Man they really stretched this out. I like the menu system we briefly saw, I like being able to change settings on the fly without a pause, the voting system is nice as well. The graphics didn’t blow me away but it does look better. I think talking to the crowd before the song starts is very tacky lol. I wish the guy reading twitter would actually ask some questions rather then just watching gameplay he already saw. Either way I’m pre-ordering and can’t wait. I’m going all new. I just hope my 4 stage kits work.
May 15, 2015 at 8:03 pm #445591The part countdown and no song limits are pretty awesome
May 15, 2015 at 8:06 pm #445592Well, I’m ready to buy it. Nothing mind blowing, but I really like the little things they’ve done at this early stage. Talking to the crowd is funny, they said you can say whatever you’d like there (go F*** yourself, San Diego) for example. Voting on next songs was cool (especially voting for a specific year, genre, etc). The countdowns to when you play next note are fantastic.
Track list so far is a nice mixture. Being able to use all of my old stuff will be key (music & instruments).
May 15, 2015 at 8:09 pm #445593Multiplier and Overdrive carry over between songs? That ought to be interesting.
Also, way to tease Tour mode without giving any actual information.
Inside the new instruments this week sometime on IGN. I think they said some tour mode info this week too? Don’t remember 100%
May 15, 2015 at 8:27 pm #445597Underwhelmed by the songs so far, but hey they aren’t gonna bring out the big guns till later. I was hoping for The Chain when I saw Fleetwood Mac. The Seeker is awesome, Somebody Told Me is cool, and who knew Spin Docotors did a 2nd song? I didn’t.
May 15, 2015 at 8:28 pm #445598Once you accept it’s an Alpha, it’s not bad.
May 15, 2015 at 8:37 pm #445601Once you accept it’s an Alpha, it’s not bad.Pope mentioned it was pre-alpha. So this is a very, very, VERY early look at it. This is like barely out of prototype stage. I’m surprised they weren’t playing it on an abacus-type early build.
May 15, 2015 at 9:17 pm #445603Seriously, I expected a lot more by a next gen Rock Band game. After seeing it, I see no real reason to upgrade from RB3, especially since they have cut some features. Sure, they also added some nice things, but not enough to really make me go “OMG, I need this”.
Especially because I changed from 360 to PS4, and I don’t want to rebuy all songs or even buy an Xbone.
Also, to the people saying it is alpha. Isn’t the game supposed to come out in a few months? So I doubt it will change much. (BTW, the animations are 1:1 copied from Rock Band 3, kinda lazy.)
EDIT: And why is everything so big and glowy? I think that’s very irritating for the eyes.
May 15, 2015 at 10:01 pm #445612I liked how it tells you how long an instrument break is so you know if you can take a piss, grab a drink or take a hit. I knew the actual gameplay would be some Rock Band-ass Rock Band, I was more interested in seeing the menus, but those aren’t the kind of things IGN cared about showing off, oh well. It was also nice seeing how fast the transition between songs can be when playing sets.
Good lord do I hate watching people who suck at Rock Band play though. That guitarist was shameful. I become a full-on obnoxious elitist when watching shitty people play.
May 15, 2015 at 10:13 pm #445613Anybody noticed during Heartbreaker, there are now notes at the end where there used to be a BRE.
May 15, 2015 at 10:29 pm #445615Anybody noticed during Heartbreaker, there are now notes at the end where there used to be a BRE.I noticed that and thought it was weird because from what I remember drums weren’t charted under the BRE fills, only guitar and bass.
Actually just checked the Heartbreaker midi and there aren’t any notes during the BRE for drums. There are only notes for animations. So maybe they did something where RB4 will generate drum notes to play for BREs based on the drum animation notes.
