Well, now I got all the songs to load. 260 songs load but when I try to enter song list the game freezes every time with high pitched noise. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_frown.gif” /> I rly cant catch a break…
July 28, 2015 at 8:37 pm #451426Is this on virtual nand? Otherwise, you’ll have to track down a song with bad DTA data.
July 28, 2015 at 8:58 pm #451427Is this on virtual nand? Otherwise, you’ll have to track down a song with bad DTA data.I finally fixed it!!! I don’t know is this only vWii (Wii U) related, but crashing happens when I load all the songs at the same time!. If I load only 100-150 at a time, add more to SD and restart the game, it completes loading and there is no crashing when entering song list. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
July 29, 2015 at 4:15 am #451467I’m not sure why that would work, but good for you. So that means customs on Wii U are working then?
July 29, 2015 at 4:53 am #451468I had something similar. In my case, I had that same buzzing only when I added some rb3.con tracks, so I figured it was those. It turned out to be 1 dodgy song in sZFP, and 1 dodgy song in sZGP, which was a nasty to find. I know sZFP WAS OK, so I managed to corrupt it. I’m not sure I’m brave enough to try agan!
Thanks for your help Stack, you are indeed the Wii guy
July 29, 2015 at 10:34 am #451474I’m not sure why that would work, but good for you. So that means customs on Wii U are working then?Yes, customs fully work on Nintendo Wii U! You can use sZFP and sZGP with no problems. Only thing to watch out for when loading songs is to load them 150-180 at a time, with game restart in between. Seems silly, but that trick worked for me 100% of the time, as oposed to when I would put all 260 customs on an SD card the game would lock up every time with high pitched noise when entering song list.
Thank you for everything Stack!
July 31, 2015 at 12:12 am #451616Stack, would it be okay with you if I posted a definitive Neogamma guide for you to link to in your main tutorial? That way if you have any future Neogamma folks they can join in the customs and cheats. I think I have everything figured out now that I can relay necessary guidelines for Neogamma with confidence.
I’m too chicken to author any custom tracks (after having read the Authoring guide on pksage.com/rbndocs), but I want to contribute to C3 somehow. Would that be feasible?
August 1, 2015 at 5:30 am #451761Yes, please do. Because there’s a lot I want to change, but haven’t done so. It would really help.
August 1, 2015 at 2:51 pm #451785Alright, here’s goes. *cracks knuckles*
If you want to use customs without relying on a USB drive (the choices are daunting, I know), there IS a way to do it just off the disc itself. There’s a loader out there called Neogamma. Through a bunch of trial and error, I have found a way to get not only customs to work, but cheats by Stackoverflow to work as well. As a bonus, requirements are minimalist and reduce the risk of installing something that could brick your Wii.
Here’s what you need:
–Neogamma: https://sites.google.com/site/completesg/backup-launchers/disc/neogamma I prefer to use the Homebrew Channel version instead of a standalone channel, but that’s a matter of personal preference.
–The cIOS d2x: http://gwht.wikidot.com/d2x While following this linked guide’s install instructions, ignore which slots/bases they suggest to install d2x. I want to say the cIOS Hermes is optional for this tutorial, but they can walk you through that one as well: http://gwht.wikidot.com/hermes-ios222-223. Here’s a snippet of my sysCheck so you know which slots to use:
IOS224[37] (rev 65535, Info: hermes-v5.1): Trucha Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0
IOS236[36] (rev 65535, Info: rev 3351): Trucha Bug, ES Identify, NAND Access
IOS245[37] (rev 21006, Info: d2x-v6): Trucha Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0
IOS246[38] (rev 21006, Info: d2x-v6): Trucha Bug, ES Identify, NAND Access
IOS247[53] (rev 21006, Info: d2x-v6): Trucha Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0
IOS248[55] (rev 21006, Info: d2x-v6): Trucha Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0
IOS249[56] (rev 21006, Info: d2x-v6): Trucha Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0
IOS250[57] (rev 21006, Info: d2x-v6): Trucha Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0
IOS251[58] (rev 21006, Info: d2x-v6): Trucha Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0Having d2x on 249 is crucial to getting customs to run, as any other slot will not help Neogamma push customs/cheats support through. The caveat of installing d2x on 249 is that the Disc Channel says it will require an update, even if you are on the latest system (4.3). You will ignore this because Neogamma will be your PRIMARY method of running discs from here on out. Fortunately, uninstalling d2x is simple if you want access to the disc channel once more (just in case you get bored with Rock Band 3 and want to play your other discs safely). I haven’t tested this theory out, but I want to say that’ll work.
Thanks to StackOverflowOX and an edit by Alternity, you can use Ocarina cheats to enhance your experience. These are the ones I have tested and are guaranteed to work, with the first one being crucial:

*Auto plays all instruments. No overdrive. These will be in a text file called “SZBE69.txt” which you will put on your SD card in a new directory, SD:/txtcodes. You can manage theses codes and create a cheat file from them with a handy tool called CheatManager: http://wiibrew.org/wiki/CheatManager
Before you dive into Neogamma, make sure your USB instrument dongle is using this port on the back of your Wii so your instruments/mics can be recognized in the game:
Once everything is installed, here’s how you’ll run Neogamma for customs:
Without the cheats:
Select “Launch Game on DVD” on Neogamma’s main menu. That’s it! No changing of any options needed.
With Cheats:
Select “Options” from the main menu.
Select “Ocarina/Wiird”.
Here are the ONLY things you need to modify in the subsequent menu:
“Wii Hook Type”: Set this to “VBI”
“Wii Ocarina”: Set this to “Yes”
That’s it! All this in place, along with Stack’s main tutorial, and you’ll be all set for using the official Rock Band 3 disc for customs!
August 2, 2015 at 5:27 am #451844Stack, did any users report problems with the Taylor Swift songs in the database? I tried loading all of them in earlier tonight and the game kept freezing. I haven’t isolated a cause yet (because it’s really late here and I have an opening shift coming up), so I was wondering if there’s an issue with any of them, like when I couldn’t get Stairway to Heaven to work that one time.
And I should mention for this conversion session I used the updated TMD from your first reply to me back when I joined.
Edit: Every single track, done one at a time, froze the game. Is it because the .tmd is different (the variant that goes up to ~500.bin)?
Only “Picture to Burn” and “You Belong With Me” loaded successfully. So that leaves “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”, “Love Story (Pop Mix)”, and “Our Song” currently not cooperating.
August 3, 2015 at 2:53 am #451918Those could be a bit old and retain some problems that have been resolved. I’ll reconvert those later to see if that solves your issue.
August 3, 2015 at 4:30 am #451921Fair enough. Thanks Stack. We had a friend over that’s a huge T-Swift fan, so I owe that friend some song plays.
I’ll let you know in edits of this post if I find any other old converts as I fill my library.
August 4, 2015 at 7:38 pm #452069Right now, when I start Rock Band, it says there is content that needs to be transfered to the SD card. Then it says ‘Please Wait’ for awhile, and then it says ‘An Unknown Error has occured’. And then SD card mode gets disabled. It’s wierd because I haven’t downloaded anything to the Wii system in months, and I was playing Rock Band fine yesterday. Any idea how to fix this?
August 5, 2015 at 2:09 am #452089How consistently does that happen? I get that showing up once in a while, but not with the unknown error. It just takes a while and everything proceeds as normal.
Also, Sin Ominous, the requested songs have been reconverted and reuploaded. I don’t think some of these even had venues.
August 5, 2015 at 3:54 pm #452112It happens every month or two, and I just tried formatting my SD card, and I still get the error. I think formatting it fixed it last time.
Edit: I tried inserting a blank SD card, I tried clearing the cache, I tried booting through Neogamma and the Disc Channel, I tried booting with the SD card using different iOS. I don’t know what to do.
