In layman’s terms for a novice using a Win7 PC – Could someone explain to me what the common key is and how I correctly apply it to the necessary file.
I feel this is the part I am missing from getting customs successfully onto my Wii.
Many thanks in advance.

May 11, 2015 at 12:31 pm #445153Common key is a key that all Wii’s know, and it is necessary for proper encryption (I think)
Here it is:
EB E4 2A 22 5E 85 93 E4 48 D9 C5 45 73 81 AA F7
Paste that into HxD (Here if you need it:) http://download.cnet.com/HxD-Hex-Editor/3000-2352_4-10891068.html?tag=bc
Notepad or Notepad ++ will not work for this.
The result should look like this:

May 13, 2015 at 4:01 pm #445330Quick question: If I have a softmodded Wii that already has reached its 1000 song limit with legit DLC, could I make a copy of my 32G SD card, and then remove the legit DLC and add CDLC in its place? Assuming yes, would I be able to swap SD cards depending upon which type of DLC I want to play, or is it not that simple? Obviously it would be awesome to sort of get around the 1000 song limit, even if it meant swapping SD cards, but I feel like it won’t be that simple and that someone here either has already tried, or simply realized why it wouldn’t work and didn’t try. I searched this forum before asking, but I may have missed the relevant post – sorry if I did.
Thanks for reading this.
May 13, 2015 at 5:26 pm #445343You should be able to use the Ocarina/Gecko code support to use this cheat that raises the limit to 3000 songs. See if that works.

E0000000 00000000May 14, 2015 at 1:42 am #445390Oh wow! It was my understanding from Harmonix that this was some sort of memory limitation issue unique to the Wii. I had no idea it could so (relatively) easily be hacked! It’s been years since I softmodded/hacked my Wii. Looks like I’ll be readin’/hackin’ this weekend.
Thanks StackOverflow0x!
May 14, 2015 at 2:23 am #445396Certainly there must be a limitation somewhere, but probably not at 1000 songs. It’s just a number they hard-coded and in my limited tests, more than 1000 seemed to be okay.
Also, you’ll definitely want this cheat to skip the splash screens in the intro and get to the game faster.

E0000000 00000000May 14, 2015 at 2:08 pm #445436I appreciate the pair of hacks.
It would be interesting to see feedback from people with well over 1000 tracks and your hack.
Here’s the information from Harmonix on the 3000 song limit on PS3 and XBox360:
“So, there are two responses to this: the short one and the long one.
The short response is, yes, this is a real thing.
The long response is, well, longer.
As I’m sure you’ve all noticed, there is a loading bar that pops up while your DLC library loads in RB3. Those of you with larger quantities of DLC will have longer load times than those of you with less DLC, because each piece of content requires memory to load. This DLC is being loaded at the same time as song audio previews, track information, menu and sorting options, album art and whole lot more. That gets to be an awful lot of information very quickly.
With all the associated tracks, packs, exports and upgrades, there’s more downloadable content available for your Rock Band library than you’ll find in any other game out there. While this is an awesome problem to have (I’ll take too much content over not enough content any day) managing ALL of that data becomes an issue on such a large scale. In our test environment, we found that working with a cache of over 3,000 songs led to interminable loading times, memory leak induced crashes and random stops and stutters inside of game play, none of which makes for an ideal gaming experience.
In an effort to reduce those drastic side effects, we imposed a limit to how many songs you can have in your active RB library. The 3,000 song cap does not affect how many songs you can store on your hard drive, and it does not take away your capacity to buy additional tracks: it only limits how many tracks you can have active in your RB library at one time. You should be able to delete tracks from RB at will and redownload them at no cost whenever you decide you want to play them again.
To provide a bit of context, we’re still many months away from hitting 3,000 individual songs in Rock Band, depending on the output from the awesome RBN community. Those 3,000 tracks, including all exports and DLC, will take up around 85 GB of hard drive space. At last count, there were roughly 20 DLC completionists across all consoles, and that was when we checked in nearly 6 months ago. And while we plan to continue to release new tracks every week, and I hope all of you plan to continue to pick up the new songs you like, this cap won’t be an issue for 99.9% of you playing RB. But for those few, those proud few, that this will affect, hopefully it’s helpful to know that there is a way to manage that data and keep your RB library intact and manageable.”
May 18, 2015 at 12:11 am #445759Quick question I can’t seem to figure out how to add more songs past the 255 mark. I know I asked earlier but I couldn’t find any specific details. I already doubled up songs on every folder. Would I just begin adding them to another DLC folder? Once again thanks in advance for any assistance.
May 18, 2015 at 12:14 am #445761What seems to be the problem with more than 255 songs? Like, your folders look like this: 255_000000ff ?
If so, then just keep going. The TMD should allow it.
May 18, 2015 at 12:42 am #445764Ah okay I apologize I didn’t realize it was that cut and dry I assumed thats were it capped. Thank you very much for all the help. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />

E0000000 00000000I thought RB3 couldnt use Ocarina codes? Tried downloading under usb loader gx but it said cheats not found on server. I would really love the game to skip all them splash screens. Not sure how to manually input the code. Any help would be appreciated.
May 19, 2015 at 9:18 pm #445887The cheats aren’t on the server. I don’t even know if they’re accepting cheats anymore. To add it manually, I just looked up a guide. I even posted some quick instructions in this thread somewhere. Going by memory, a cheat text file has to be placed in a cheat folder on the SD card names by the game’s internal ID.
May 20, 2015 at 5:38 am #445917Once again i apologize for the bother, I doubled up every folder I stopped at 499 and went back and started doubling up each folder that wouldn’t break the size limit. The files were detected; but when I click quick play to play a song the game freezes up.
May 20, 2015 at 1:47 pm #445941It might be a DTA issue with a recently added song. Remember if you’re simply “doubling up” without a cache reset, there won’t really be any effect. Plus, you can fit more than 2 a lot of the time. The limit is 40 MB on the song folder and 500 KB on the meta.
