      update:

I tried the sample song and it worked on the vwii, haven’t tried the wii (they are on different floors, but I use same HDD). I’m assuming it will work (I’ll try tomorrow).

So I guess that means there is something wrong with the song file I’m trying to use (Paul McCartney, My Brave Face).

copied files to packer folder, changed meta file to 54…36 and song file to 55…37. and dta info

      ran RB3packtool, then packdlc…

and finally copied bin files to sd card.

that’s enough for tonite……I’ll continue tomorrow….maybe with a different song

quick question….why does it work through a usb loader and not the disc channel ???

What happened when you try to load that song?

And to answer your question, people have gotten it working with a disc loader, but the key point is that they must be run with a patched IOS that allows loading of fakesigned content.

When I tried loading the song, that’s when I get the progress bar and then the DLC cannont be moved to system memory error.

I was talking about the vwii when I asked about the usb loader. I have it running through the disc channel on my wii.

I don’t have any patched IOS’s on the vwii, just the extra 249 250 251. I read somewhere not to patch them.

Yeah, I have no idea what’s happening with anything.

For a while I had Dolphin crashing at the menu, but following this thread, I eventually got it to the point where it loads the songs on the main menu (256 songs at that, but I think it’s a Dolphin glitch more than anything.) but doesn’t display them in the song list.

Failing to see it working, I tried loading through SD on my actual Wii. I keep getting “Cannot be restored to System Memory”, even though I put my Wii’s ID in in ng_id.txt and the common key in common-key. (Yes, my Wii is softmodded with the Homebrew channel installed.)

Finally, I tried USB loader and many other programs that emulate my NAND, as that was a third option, but I guess Rock Band 3 doesn’t even try to look for them. Although, emulating my NAND makes Rock Band 3 unable to detect my SD card, so I think it works? I’ve tried looking at this from every angle possible

For my Dolphin NAND, I have the following: (And yes, I have replaced some of these files with ones throughout the thread, and that’s how I was able to make Dolphin not crash when loading DLC.)

I have used various different types of USB Loaders and NAND emulators and none of them even make Rock Band detect DLC.

          My commen-key is ebe42a225e8593e448d9c5457381aaf7.

          My Wii ID is 73997879.

Also I read somewhere for the SD option that I had to have a sZFE wad installed… I don’t know what that is? I’ve only ever used my homebrew channel for emulation and Project M, but that’s about it. This is the first time I’m using it to load DLC on Rock Band, so sorry if I’m totally inexperienced or am totally doing this all wrong. <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_cheeky.001.gif” /> As far as I know, I’ve tried every option mentioned on this thread. I mean EVERY.

I’ve even tried changing sZFE to sZAE where 735a4645 was 735a4145. Same results, except trying to load 256 songs in Dolphin changed it to loading like 14 songs.

(Yes, I’ve even tried getting the SYSCONF from my backed up NAND, didn’t worked. I have no idea what to do now.)

I’ve got an all new issue, Stack, with a very familiar vibe.

I packed a second song (hopefully right), and it loads in the game. But when I select it to play and pick my difficulty and what-have-you, the screen goes black and says “[The song’s name] cannot be restored to the Wii System Memory.”

Okay, this is a lot to take in at once.

For Dolphin, yeah it’s going to say loading 256 songs. But since you’ve already switched out files, seeing 14 songs loading means you’re on the right track. I have been made aware that a cache file is still created though. Make sure to erase it from the save file folder. As for crashes though, try build 4243as it’s confirmed working. Newer versions seem to be causing issues like that.

Keep to sZAE for Dolphin and erase sZFE so it won’t get in the way. And finally, what does the log say when you get to the main menu? If it looks like it’s still trying to load from 735a4250, then you have to replace the SYSCONF (when the emulator is closed of course) until it stops trying to do that. By default, it sets the region to Switzerland and would make the NTSC ticket and content not work.

For SD card DLC, even if you’re Wii is softmodded, it depends how softmodded it is. The only way to find out is to see your system syscheck. Run the homebrew software and show me the results. IOS 223 and 249 are essential.

But even then, you’ll need to have the right settings on your USB loader. For me, I use Configurable USB Loader, also called Cfg. The loader runs in IOS 222 but the game is in 249. The game loading as 249 is very important.

But yes, you’ll also need to install an sZFE WAD and that’s just something you could find online with a simple search. When that is installed, it should let you load the DLC you packed.

To reset your cache on your actual console, WiiXplorer does this really well. You can run it and navigate to the game’s save folder and erase it from there with the GUI. Then, next time you run the homebrew app, it will remember your location and it should be easy to erase it when needed.

I don’t know too much about emu NAND except that the problems you’re getting seem to be coming from the same place. Figure one out, and it should make it easier to figure out the rest. So get that WAD and system check done to get caught up.

I’ve got an all new issue, Stack, with a very familiar vibe.

Seeing as you got that far, this could happen if you did not update the songs.dta info for that song. I think the pack dlc tool I wrote is supposed to check for those, so I hope it’s not that. It could also happen if your song folder, when packed, exceeds 40MB. Spread them out to other folders if this happens, but know you’ll have to reset the cache if you do this. Otherwise, say sZFE/066 is cached and it’s expecting the song in sZFE/067 but the song is now in sZFE/074, or something like that.

Still nothing by erasing the cache. I might not be checking the right thing, as the log I checked didn’t mention the DLC at all. (Yes, I have enabled all log types. I… don’t know why it isn’t working.)

As for the other two options, I’m going to try them right now. Sad you can’t help with emuNAND, that’s something I really wanted to try.

As for SD… I really don’t know what I’m looking for for the sZFE wad. Like I said, I haven’t done too much with my homebrew. I’ll try to install IOS 223 and 249 if I haven’t already. I’ll try to look the sZFE wad if I can. But, I’m not too sure what to look for at all. I don’t know. If this is the thing I’ve been missing along with the two ISOs I’ve been missing, possibly, to get customs to work, then yay.

.dta looks fine, size looks fine. I’m gonna try to reset the cache tomorrow sometime anyway and see if it helps.

If it looks like it’s still trying to load from 735a4250, then you have to replace the SYSCONF (when the emulator is closed of course) until it stops trying to do that. By default, it sets the region to Switzerland and would make the NTSC ticket and content not work.

What version of Dolphin is that? It’s saving settings to Documents, so it must be new-ish, but I don’t see anything else that would suggest the version. If you set the log verbosity to Warning, then DLC calls should certainly start showing up on the main menu.

Just try to look for the sZFE WAD. You just have to search. Or, you can try the sZGE WAD that I made that you can use for SD DLC. Here it is again in case you didn’t have it.

That comes with the sZGE WAD and everything else you’ll need to pack DLC into sZGE. When you get this and the IOSes configured, it should work. Show me a syscheck after you install a round of IOSes.

Well, I have both the latest stable and unstable releases, which both give pretty much the same results. Basically 4.02 and 4.0-5441.

Also here’s the log. Apparently it’s trying to open all the wrong files, or maybe they’re just the empty slots.

Also, I’ll try the zFGE converter. Interestingly enough, I have IOS 249 already, so there’s that. I’ll get back to you when I’m finished with the sZGE converter and have results. Apparently, I’m to stupid to know what to look for because I can’t find that freakin’ sZFE wad.

Seriously, I’ve been looking for what is apparently so easy to find. I have no idea what I’m looking for anymore. :what: :what: :what: :what: :what: :what: :what: :what: :what: :what: :what: :what: :what: :what: :what: :what: :what: :what: :what: :what: :what: :what:

EDIT: I’d like to make a correction. The app files are not 36-3B, anymore. I just remembered I changed all the numbers to 2-7, just to see if it was the slots that were the problem. The song.dta file still matches, and everything.

Okay, it looks like it’s at least the right region on Dolphin. However, still try with version 4.0-4243. 4.02 is too old and 4.0-5441 might be too new. And also, don’t forget to keep the banner file in the DLC folder of Dolphin’s virtual NAND. It’s 000001d2.app for sZAE and 00000026.app for sZFE.

As you switch everything to sZGE, this one starts from 003, but should also be expandable to more slots. Find out if 003 works first though. And then of course update the songs.dta file.

What number to I put for the ticket file and everything? Like sZFE was 7354645 and sZAE was 735a4145.

Also I can’t install the sZGE.wad to the Wii. It gives me some error (ret -1022) and I don’t know why.

I’m having an awful time clearing the cache (if that’s even the issue). Last night, I’d be able to get into the Wii through FileZilla, but I couldn’t find any kind of mstore.vff file. I can’t find it if I go through the SD card through Windows or WiiXplorer. I can find it in fstoolbox, but I can’t delete it.

EDIT: Turns out I didn’t mark that they’re sZFE in the .dta, but when I corrected this, it didn’t correct the issue.

You’ll notice that the ticket files get renamed to their hexadecimal equivalents. But you only need to do this for Dolphin anyways, so keep to sZAE there.

On installing the WAD, that is the error you should be expecting. That means it worked. Content packed for sZGE should work provided everything else is correct.

Use WiiXplorer and from the main window, switch to NAND. Should be default to the SD card. Then you can browse through title/00010000/535a4245/data and find MSTORE.VFF. First, you’ll have to click Start and then Boot Options to set NAND Write Access. Then you can push the + button when you’re over the file to erase it.

                  I got it. Thanks!
