I am at the “get mod relative to sZFE or else your work is all in vain” step. I’m also stuck at “you can only get something to work once, so you only get one set of .bin files. Ever. For only 1 song. Ever.” step. I found Xbox 360 to be really easy to mod, but I didn’t have many games to mod. I find anything made by Apple and Nintendo to be the biggest possible cysts in modding.
September 28, 2014 at 2:54 am #430078I don’t know what’s happening in this particular case you have going, but I can assure you this has never happened before. Is a file getting erased? Try just packing the sample songs. What does it look like before? What happens after?
I don’t know if this is a sign that many more Wii users are trying, and that’s why we see so many having problems. But from the outside looking in it sure looks like things have gotten more complicated to get running than when I worked with StackOverflowX to create the converter toolIt probably has gotten more complicated recently and the whole things just needs to be done over, preferably with a better tool backing it all.
I would like it if it were like this:
Softmod your Wii (it’s easy and mostly everyone at this point should have it modded by now)
Install sZFE WAD and any other patches you’re missing.
Drag and drop downloaded songs, build, and start playing.

You find opening a console (xbox 360), soldering a chip to the motherboard and then programming everything easier than just downloading software and pressing a few buttons (as in the Wii)? You obviously have not modded an Xbox 360. Anyways, all this is irrelevant.
You have some misconceptions regarding all this. For example:
You said “you can only get something to work once, so you only get one set of .bin files. Ever.”
I say you can make as many .bin files over and over for the same song but, you can only use one. Just because you mess up one .bin creation for a song doesn’t mean you can’t ever do it again.
You said ” I just don’t remember what program in there is used to install WADs and I recall that misusing the program will brick the Wii ezpz”. This is called a WAD manager. It installs the WAD files to softmod you Wii and it installs the WAD files to allow you to play “special” DLC for RB3.
I say if you follow the steps in the Wii softmod guide, you will not brick anything. And if you do, you can always get you wii back to original if you backed up your Key and Nand files.
Again, follow the steps I laid out for you. Follow the steps for the softmod guide. I even told you what to search for (regarding the RB3 WADs) which, when found, it in itself has a guide. Follow the guide that StackOverFlow has made, its pretty well laid out. Many time I myself have overlooked simple things in the .BIN creation process. That is where StackOverFlow comes to the rescue. Not counting the backup of the Nand, the whole process should only take an hour, if that. If you’re new to the process it will take a bit longer. Don’t rush, you’re bound to overlook something. I wish somebody would have laid out all the steps for me when I first began but, no dice. It took many hours of searching.

Hehe. I’m actually still using the “older” more manual way of doing the .BINs. I’ve got the hang of it now and I figure, “if it ain’t broke, dont fix it”. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” /> Of course, I understand though easier is better especially for new users.

Mind you, I used Modio. I never JTAGed my device.
That was something I said out of my anger.
I’ve already softmodded the Wii.
I did the process perfectly fine. I don’t understand where I could’ve done it wrong. I couldn’t find anything for sZFE WADs.

Still nothing. Everywhere downward in cmd in which I could scroll to was textless and black.

If you don’t install the sZFE wad (that is just 1 of 8 or so sXXX WADS) it simply isn’t going to work. Don’t waste you time creating the .BIN files. I told you what you need to do. Unfortunately, I don’t have time to write you an entire guide especially when the guides are already available.
I don’t mean to be rude but, I have a hard time believing that you searched on youtube (like I showed you how) and you found no results. It is the first link that shows up. Seriously, I think I’m swimming against the current here.

I didn’t search YouTube, holy fuck, sorry.

I mean, c’mon, the song releases up to now are a HUGE incentive. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />
I think the source of confusion is the things we are not allowed to discuss on these forums. I don’t know if the tutorial will allow sections for where to get specific wads, how to install them safely, etc. It seems the initial steps, before getting to C3-specific instructions, are the biggest hurdle. I’m assuming there’s a little bit more leeway concerning further instructions through private messages.
I’ve been going at a snail’s pace due to work and caution bordering on paranoia, and for that I apologize.
October 1, 2014 at 8:52 pm #430255Thank you for this tutorial stackoverflow ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” /> It was easy to follow and it got me rocking out on customs pretty quickly. Thank you and everyone on this wonderful site that takes time to chart all these awesome songs I never thought Id play on rockband!
October 3, 2014 at 12:56 pm #430351Since my last post, my schedule has been overwhelmed, so I’ve yet to try out the suggestions, sorry.
October 3, 2014 at 3:18 pm #430367Hello,
I’ve been trying for the past couple of days to get custom songs working on my PAL Wii. I’ve followed the instructions in the OP, changed the folders to the PAL ones, tried installing wads (I only found out today that the error that was coming up is normal, ret -1022) and still I get an error saying “Add-on content cannot be restored to the Wii System Memory”. I was first trying multiple songs but even after trying one song, it isn’t working. Rock Band 3 recognises the extra song (an extra song is being loaded when it starts) but after it tries loading it, the error displays and the song isn’t in the song list. Can anyone help me?

Define what you mean by “tried installing wads”. Make a list of the WADs you have installed on your Wii.
The error you stated “Add-on content cannot be restored to the Wii System Memory” usually has to do with the missing Hermes 223 cIOS.

I just installed Hermes 222, 223 and 224 and it still has that error. The WADs I was installing were the sXXX wads for the PAL region.
EDIT: And now that I’ve had a go on cIOS 222, 223, 224 and 249 with a USB Loader, 222 and 223 are telling me the add-on content is out of date and 224/249 won’t allow USB microphones/keyboard to be used.
October 4, 2014 at 3:49 am #430410Are you using a Wii or the vWii on the WiiU?
I have no experience with PAL so…
Are you trying to use Rockband DLC or customs?
