I played House of the Rising Sun this week (downloaded from here: http://customscreators.com/index.php?/page/index.html/_/house-of-the-rising-sun-r1476) and converted it myself using the C3 Tools. I do recall when downloading it that it was supposed to have multi-tracks… I was 99% sure I wouldn’t be able to play it without stuttering (and therefore removing it from the library), but I had to try! And waddaya know!? It “worked!” I don’t think there were multi-tracks, but there were no stutters so I was fine with it. I was pleasantly surprised. I prefer a playable song over unusable multi-tracks!
Is it possible it will stutter in the future? Is stuttering with full multi-tracks random and unpredictable? Fingers crossed…
It depends on the audio whether it will stutter or not. But again, as previously stated, the legacy database has the Wii conversions. Always use those since they’ve already been downmixed for you. Just a shame about the current database not having all the download links for C3 releases.
June 15, 2017 at 10:02 am #486392In case you weren’t aware, every song from the database that was released 2015 and prior has converted Wii versions in the Legacy Database (http://www.pksage.com/songlist/?sc=C3) courtesy of our friend StackOverflow0x. The multitracks have been manually converted by him so that they do not stutter on Wii. They simply never got around to updating the new database to include these links in addition to the Xbox ones.
This should get you covered for most of the Guitar Hero conversions.
Indeed, I was not aware! Thank you very much for this info! Time to spend the day updating my library…

Geeze, Stack. You do even more for this community than I thought. Thanks a bunch! Snagged about one hundred more songs… but now I think I need to get a larger SD card ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />
I wonder if the upcoming C3 Universe will accommodate us Wii users a bit more?
June 15, 2017 at 6:08 pm #486400Well, here’s a curious problem…
I went through and replaced all of the songs I could with Wii versions, downloaded from the old Legacy database and not converted using the C3 Tools. But somehow that increased the file sizes and now I can only bundle 2 songs instead of 3 without going over the 500 KB limit for the Meta folder. What the heck!? Why would this be happening, Stack?
[Edit] Gah. I think I know why. Your song preview MOGGs are much larger than those created by C3. Well, crap. Nearly every Wii preview MOGG is TWICE the size of those created by C3 Tools…
Any advice on how to batch-tackle this problem instead of simply deleting them? I’m trying to be professional with my library ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif” />
[Edit 2] Just so you can see the difference… Bloody Well Right’s provided preview with the downloadable Wii version is a massive 285 KB. The one generated with C3 Tools by converting XBOX CONs at the default settings is 99 KB. When it comes to the Wii storage, this is a huge difference. Hopefully people make note of this for future creations.
June 16, 2017 at 5:09 am #486416can i see what is in my .bin files? i have been deleting my _meta and _song folders, and i was not thinking about stuttering when i packed them. so some of my songs are stuttering, i want to replace them but i do not have the folders anymore
sorry if this doesn’t make sense ahhh

Older converted customs have larger preview audio. It wasn’t until later that it was decided to set the default preview audio time to 15 seconds instead of 30. Some older customs did get reconverted with the shorter preview audio, but I suspect most didn’t.

You should never be deleting folders. There’s a BIN unpacker, but then you have to unpack the APP files too (but you don’t have to if you peek at the file with a hex editor). This tool should still work.
June 19, 2017 at 3:57 pm #486576Is there a tutorial out there which explains how to make multitrack customs into Wii-friendly versions that don’t stutter? I am more than willing to put the time and energy into “converting” some of these for the sake of allowing me and the rest of the community to enjoy them. I get so sad when I see an awesome custom we can’t enjoy! I just want to give back to this community, even if it’s in a small way, for all it’s given us!
June 20, 2017 at 4:09 am #486612If there isn’t a link to one in the first post, then I probably have to write one, but I’m sure I have.
Typically, you would enable Wii Mode in Magma, then convert the CON there. It downmixes the audio for you and it will build out a file that should work well on the Wii. If that still isn’t enough and you need lower quality sound, there’s RockBiink which is a bit more manual, but will produce a Wii-only .bik file for you to use instead of a MOGG. However, if the author encrypted their MOGG, then you have to ask the author to convert it for you, or I can convert it as well.
June 20, 2017 at 4:25 pm #486644Can you help me get customs on dolphin??
Here’s what I’ve done
I’ve named the folders correctly and got the .app files (also named the songs.dta correctly)

I’ve set my nand correctly.
I put the app files into my content folder for rb3.
and this is what it looks like in game.
Any help?
Also, all your download links on this topic are dead. I had to get them from other people (like WiiDLC packer).
EDIT: Also, do I need to setup dolphin for online play?
June 20, 2017 at 8:59 pm #486651You are missing the 000001d2.app file required for sZAE.
For online play you need files from a real NAND; that includes a savegame that was already activated to play online. You also need to setup dolphin for regular online play. Everything is said in the RB3 Dolphin Wiki: https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=Rock_Band_3

All right, so how do I get that?

So I basically need to do that for customs?
June 21, 2017 at 12:10 am #486658the 1d2 file should be included with the packer (Stack; please confirm?). The other way of obtaining it is downloading a song from the sZAE generation from the store; something that can’t be done on Dolphin; but can be done on real/emu NAND. If you get it via real NAND make sure you are downloading DLCs to your NAND and not on your SD card.
And no; this is only for online play on RB3.

Oh, I just got a nand from someone, and now I can play customs. However now I have a new issue. I think this is user error, but how exactly do I use smart folder merge? This thread mentions it but doesn’t really say how to use it.
June 22, 2017 at 1:46 am #486711Smart Folder Merge, if I recall correctly, requires you to first drop in the folder for the DLC you’ve already prepared for build. Then, it will ask you to choose the folder of the custom you want to add. This can be either the _meta or _song folder. After that, it should combine it with your already-prepared folder so all you have to do is just rebuild.

Auto-kick could be much tougher than it seems. Vocal overdrive on button seems possible. Unfortunately, even though the bugs with the debugger have been fixed, now the game runs very slow on most recent Dolphin builds. So I’d have to wait until that gets fixed so I could look into it.
