Oh wait, I downloaded sZGE but not sZFE. I can’t find any link to download that. Also, I did install IOS236.
You can always edit your song dta to reflect that, and drop it into the sZGE folder on your SD Card if you haven’t tried that? sZGE starts at 003 from memory. I use the PAL versions but I assume it’s the same format.
August 24, 2016 at 11:18 pm #473845Wait, so do I change dlc/sZFE/052/content/songs/ to dlc/sZGE/003/content/songs/ ?

Yes. But otherwise, you’d install the sZFE.wad file to pack stuff to sZFE folders. And an sZGE.wad for sZGE folders. Those should all be on the first page.
August 25, 2016 at 4:22 pm #473882I couldn’t find a link for the sZFE.wad file. Do you happen to have a link?
August 25, 2016 at 5:34 pm #473885This should be fixed now. Redownload from the same link and see if it solves the problem.
I can’t quite reproduce this exact problem. I got other errors though. But I find it odd that the Output Name is still the default even after you supposedly loaded the DTA. If you drag and drop the DTA file onto the box, do you get the a dialog box asking you to pick the song? I also found it odd that this one custom had a # symbol in its name, which may or may not throw things off. So you may have to edit the DTA and remove that symbol from the name. It’s at the top of the DTA.
You might not want to get rid of backing either, so it may be complaining about that too. A period character may or may not also be causing issues, so if you could also try loading the DTA from your desktop to see if that solves the problem.
I can confirm that the Beatles tracks Drive My Car and I Want to Hold Your Hand work now without stuttering. Thanks!

That is something you’ll have to find somewhere else. It’s not necessary if you will just be working with sZGE and sZHE, which are provided here and do work.
August 28, 2016 at 7:42 pm #474077Hi guys, sorry to be a pain, I’ve read many pages of the thread but can’t seem to figure something out.
I’m on a real Wii with Emunand – from reading the thread I’ve gathered that the custom sZGE/sZGP generation doesn’t work on the real console. The solution that is usually brought up is either replacing official DLC or merging the custom songs with official DLC, I assume in a similar fashion to the merging of two customs talked about in the first post, but I can’t find any post that goes into any real detail about the process. So, say I have some official DLC, I have a custom, what can I do to merge them? Because DLC comes in .app files, do I have to extract the app file somehow and rebuild it with the new content? If so, how?
Again, I’m sorry if there’s an obvious solution, I just really need this broken down for me.
August 28, 2016 at 9:13 pm #474080I have sZGE working on real Nand through the app Neogamma. Quite a few songs in sZGE, actually. So, I can confirm that sZGE does in fact work on a real console, and running the official disc through the Neogamma loader, no less.

As confirmed by Sin Ominous, it is possible. So don’t go merging with official DLC. I cannot recommend that. There’s never a case where you have to replace official DLC because of customs. Make sure you have the right WADs installed and that you boot the game with IOS249.

If it matters, sZGP is also working on real console
August 29, 2016 at 3:26 am #474098No, this is the only song in the folder. I think converted down it’s somewhere close to 37 MB, so I really have no room to put anything else.
Can you try downloading RockBiink again? I’ve made a few changes to how DTA updating is done and maybe that will solve the problem you’re having.

Thank you all for the info, seems I was getting some mixed messages. I will experiment with this some more. Are there any confirmed cases of the custom generation working with an emunand also? I was hoping to go that route due to the extra space but I should certainly have enough room on the SD card if not.
EDIT: So, an update. I tried the emunand approach to start with and found the custom generation was just not picked up at all. The .wad was installed and every instruction was followed to the letter but no songs loaded, didn’t even throw an error at me – just behaved as usual. Emunand on real Wii’s appears to be an understood problem, there was a discussion several pages back with a ‘workaround’ where you could install a 735a4645 folder with an edited title.tmd, which I also tried and that too had no effect.
So I gave up on that and am just trying to load something via SD card now, but even that’s giving me a lot of trouble. At first I tried installing the sample song and one other song, as per the guide, it got me as far as the songs being loaded on the quickplay menu but a little black box popped up reading “Add-on content cannot be restored to the Wii System Memory”. I’ve installed the custom wad, plus a bunch of other generation’s wads just to be sure, I’ve double checked ng-id and common-key are correct, I’ve even tried installing just the sample song on its own but get the same treatment. Does anybody have any idea what it could be? I know it’s a vague error that could mean any number of things but I’m stumped as to what else to try. I think it’s to do with my copy being PAL, maybe there are additional changes I need to make with naming and the like? I’ll keep trying for now.
EDIT (2): Got it working on SD finally by skipping straight to the sZGP gen and going from 003 onwards. Customs seem to be working fine now, thank you everyone. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />

Worked like a charm Stack. I just need to work on getting the files small enough. They are wicked huge. If you have any ideas that could help shrink them, I’m going to need a hand with the Dream Theater songs A Nightmare to Remember, The Best of Times (which is almost there) The Count of Tuscany and The Shattered Fortress.
September 2, 2016 at 3:31 am #474352Your best bet is to reduce the quality as much as you can tolerate. And make mono (and pan as necessary) any tracks that would suffer the least from such a reduction. 40MB is still feasible. The most difficult song to convert by far was “Cassandra Gemini”. And tricks I wouldn’t recommend were done to make that possible. You shouldn’t have to resort to anything more than what I’ve suggested. But if you still can’t get it under the limit, I could give it a shot.
September 5, 2016 at 1:18 am #474483I just have to say that this forum thread has not helped me at all. I have given up on RB3 customs. Support was ineffective and instructions left out key parts. I don’t understand why everyone is so secretive about where to find sZFE wad. Any time it is mentioned, Stack or sinonimous says that you can find it somewhere but never actually points you in the right direction. I have given up and come back about ten times and each time something goes wrong again. If you can’t tell me where to find sZFE, how about you take out the word optional next to your custom sZGE so people know they need it. I am frustrated beyond belief and will not be returning to this thread.
