Stack, I have found some songs that stutter for me. I have tried very hard to follow, understand and execute your tutorial on the use of RockBiink. I can make the script, but no amount of trickery will allow it to run without error. I am generally pretty decent with this sort of stuff, but could not troubleshoot the issue. Could we possibly make a list of songs that have too many tracks and get them fixed up for us Wii users? I would be happy to help in any way I can!

Ok, just want to make sure I got this right. I built a few guitar parts and I threw them together using Smart Folder Merge. I put them in the game and they show up. I go to play one and it gives me the “Content can’t be restored to memory” but the other one plays. I have two more songs in this folder for a total of 4 in the one smart merge folder. The song folder is about 20 MB which is good but the meta was like 475 KB. I deleted one of the mogg files, that should fix my problem correct??

Hi. i had great success using .bin files in sd card but i cant make the .app work in emunand (btw im using wii).

I followed all the instructions mentioned in the 1st page.

when i compile using sZFE and sZGE all my custom songs are loading and playable using .bin on sdcard, but when i try using the .app files the original dlcs only are loaded even resetting the cache (yup i placed all the needed files like .app and tmd in folder 735a4645 for sZFE and folder 735a4745 for sZGE, install and reinstalled the .wad, copied renamed and replaced .tik but still no luck <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_frown.gif” /> )

        my folder structure:

        emunandticket0010005 735a4645.tik and 735a4745.tik here

emunandtitle0010005735a4645content all .app made for sZFE are in this folder with the title.tmd

emunandtitle0010005735a4745content all .app made for sZGE are in this folder with the title.tmd

(yes all title.tmd for sZFE and sZGE came from the latest files that i can see in this thread)

as i am investigating as to why it wont load the custom dlc, i tried to swap title.tmd of the two to see what kind of result or error i may get. and the result is it wont load the dlcs. and when i tried to return the original title.tmd( before i replaced it) of sZFE, all original dlcs showed up but not the custom ones. then i replaced it again with the title.tmd (the one that came from the dlc packer) and again the originals only showed up <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_frown.gif” /> (i always reset the cache before i made those experiments).

so therefore i conclude that my problem is in the title.tmd file.

as i tried to make a clean emunand using modmii, i stumbled upon the tmdedit.exe from the modmii and tried to use it.

i opened cmd and do the input of codes and i checked the title.tmd(the orig) using -r

and i noticed that the contentid, hash, file size of the .apps are in there, then i tried to check the file size and sha1 of the original dlc .apps and compared it from the info i got from the tmd and result is they have the exact data. and when i tried to open the modified title.tmd, the hash, file size from 34 to 499 are the same. so maybe if i can edit those data and input my .app data to the title.tmd, maybe it will show up.

so anyone here have the idea of editing title.tmd please teach me.

Perhaps you are on to something. The closest I work with emunand is for Dolphin, where the hashes are ignored. It’s possible the game is rejecting your content because the TMD data is technically incorrect. Makes me wonder what everyone else is doing to get emunand working. You can try to manually correct the TMD size and hash for a matching pair of meta and song folders. If that works, I think a more scaleable solution is feasible for emunand use.

Which songs stutter? If it’s anything that’s C3, I can go back and fix it. The issue you’re probably having might have to do with where the script is being run from, which is something I have to fix as well. Otherwise, running the script manually instead of though the prompt should work. And if not, then what error are you getting?

Did it fix your problem? It probably didn’t because if a meta folder is too large, they just wouldn’t show up. Since all 4 customs must share the same DTA, which one is showing an error in-game? Inspect the songs.dta file for some obvious errors. You could also be getting errors if the problem custom is missing required files in the song folder.

Thrice – Deadbolt (2x for sure, but I assume 1x as well

All Time Low – Dear Maria, Count Me in and Damned If I Do Ya

Snow Patrol – You’re All I have and Hands Open

Interesting thing I just noticed while making this list, they were all taken from GH.

I played all of the other GH songs I had and they worked fine. I did not check all of the Metallica songs, but I am sure somebody else would have found those by now.

I was unable to get the script to run manually. I tried everything, including running it from different drives. It gave me an error saying something along the lines of not being able to create the files.

        #464870

You deleted your DLLs. Get them again from the packer download.

Update to this again. I’ve found a table of bits that change what each “button” on a controller does. I can append the bits for the cymbals to it and it should work. Try this cheat, with caution.

$Hit Pro Cymbals on Standard Drums
        047F0B34 00000480
        047F0B38 00000640

Right now, that cheat should make the Pro blue and green cymbals hittable with their corresponding colors on regular drums. Or not. I couldn’t find yellow on this table because it might be an issue with the Guitar Hero drums configuration. But this is closer – if it’s not double-hitting and breaking combo.

Hey, sorry I haven’t replied to this, I’ve been real busy and haven’t been able to play Rockband much lately. I’m gonna test this out over the next few days and I’ll let you know how it goes. I’m very thankful that you made this.

Hey Stack….just came across this line in the tutorial..

It is also possible to just force-reload one or a few songs if you want to avoid a whole cache refresh. You’ll have to ask for this as well because it can be a bit involved.

Is that just for the RBHP songs or any song?

I can’t do a cache reset because I can’t write to the vwii nand (don’t think anyone has figured out how yet).

I would like to replace some of my customs with the updated files of same song.

So please tell me if I can do this.

I’ve been thinking about switching to emuNand, but then I’d have to download a bunch of songs again.

Stack, what would you suggest for rectifying this one:

I converted an RB3 con of “I’m Sad, So Very Very Sad” by Crash and the Boys from the new database. Packing seemed to go fine with the usual steps, and it appeared to load successfully (no freezes) at the main menu of RB3, but I cannot for the life of me find the song in Quickplay, including using all the search modifiers at RB3’s disposal.

Have you ever had a song do this, and if so, does a cache reset solve the problem? I haven’t tried to convert anything since then, as that was my latest one at…416/7 sZFE…I think.

Those are not C3 customs, so it would be expecting the author to produce a Wii version to avoid the issue. GH multitrack converts usually will cause problems for being very demanding. The problems you’re having seem to have to do with newer versions of Bink and the RAD Video Tools. Which version are you on? They might have changed how the batch files work.

Oh, if it’s freezing at the song list, it’s almost certainly a DTA issue. Start removing songs from the DTA until it stops freezing. A missing bracket is all it takes to break everything.

I thought they had WiiXplorer running on vWii NAND. Because then you could freely edit or erase the song cache. They couldn’t have gotten very far if editing the NAND wasn’t possible.

I’ve only had this happen infrequently. Hard to figure out why. If you dump and open your song cache in a hex editor, can you find the song name anywhere?

              #464906

I’ll find out after my opening shift tomorrow.

In another note, any songs that I can’t get to function I’m going to write off as a loss, and just reuse the slots for successful ones. Will help me consolidate a little. I mean, the fact that I can do custom songs at all is not taken for granted. Converted some good gems from the new database so far through Wii Converter in C3 CON Tools. I daresay may revisit the CONs of the faulty ones I have and see if running them through the converter myself will help.

I’ve noticed a little hiccup with the Max Songs cheat. Previous scores do disappear the more I add content from both C3/database and the official store. Sometimes I can’t get achievements complete for on-disc songs because now THOSE scores like to disappear. In order to complete achievements that relate to on-disc, I’ve had to disable SD card mode to get scores to post and goals be completed. Also, Autoplay does not hit the overdrive green crash note on drums, so when many of those highlighted lanes start showing up, that’s a lot of missed points opportunities when a fill/green section shows up. My only workaround is to enlist somebody on online multiplayer who’s not using autoplay, to cue overdrive on my behalf.

Ok got a good and bad result after editing the title.tmd

i started by following all the steps from the 1st page by stackoverflowox and after i compiled and got the .app

i used tmdedit.exe by person66 and libWiiSharp.dll, just search google and you’ll find this amazing tool

i put tmdedit.exe and libwiisharp.dll and my .app,

my untouched title.tmd of sZFE from my wii

to the same folder and open cmd (like hold shift then right click and choose open cmd window here)

then i started by reading my title.tmd by

              tmdedit -r title.tmd

i got an output of all the contents of the title.tmd

after i confirmed that it is the official title.tmd from rb3, i started to add my custom dlc.

              tmdedit -e title.tmd -add

contentID= the decimal number from your .app like 00000034.app is 52( refer to the first page)

              type=DLC

index= look for the last index from your title.tmd, the last index from sZFE title.tmd is 48 (so use start using 49)

file= the .app dlc you compiled

              example:

              tmdedit -e title.tmd -add 52 DLC 49 00000034.app -out newtitle.tmd

you will get (operation completed successfully)

try to read your newtitle.tmd by

              tmdedit -r newtitle.tmd

look for the last index if it match, the file size and sha1 will be automatically generated

              then use the newtitle.tmd to add more <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />

              tmdedit -e newtitle.tmd -add 53 DLC 50 00000035.app -out newtitle.tmd

              and so on..

after you add your dlcs.. copy your newtitle.tmd to your emunand 735a4645content and replace title.tmd

              and done

the good news is that the custom dlcs loaded and i can select it from the rb3 and even w/o resetting my cache the songs is still loaded <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />

the bad news is that it can’t be previewed and i got an error “the song xxxx cannot be restored to the wii system memory” (resetting the cache won’t solve this error) <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_frown.gif” />

so if i can sort that problem, maybe we don’t need to reset our cahce and just add dlc and edit title.tmd only.

So you’re successfully adding your content with this tool that updates the TMD for you? What are you doing with the TMD? Ideally, you should have the tmd in your NAND’s DLC folder, but only after the last app file was added to it. It should contain a record of everything else that goes in it, which is something I believe wadpacker does, but on a per-index basis.

Okay, that sounds complicated, but the tmd on your console does have all the additions you made, right? So if you’re up to 53, the tmd will have 52’s data in there as well? Because then it shouldn’t have any reason to fail. Actually, send me some test files so I can verify it’s doing it correctly.

You just have to use wiixplorer, enable nand writting, and replace the vWii mstore.vff with a fresh/empty one…i will PM you the file.

Ok got a good and bad result after editing the title.tmd

Wow, that interesting, because i play on emunand, but cant load customs using customs slots like sZGE, because for some reason the game loads all the .app containing the _song folders, but deletes the .app with the _meta folders. So i have to replace some sZAE slots and all sZFE. Also, some official dlc from sZJE to sZME seems to stuck at loading screen when i choose them to play, and the game freezes after playing a song and then loading a preview of certain songs…

Thanks Blaze…..must not be looking in the right spots….everything I google about the vwii nand says it can’t be written to…..

I have wiixplorer r259 and an empty mstore.vff file. I can’t access the data folder in the nand to replace the file.

I’d attach some pics but don’t know how.

The files just show up as what looks like a piece of paper with the corner folded, not a folder.

and yes, I did turn nand writing access on. HELP !!!!

You have version 2.5n/1.100n of the Bink Tools.
