How to chart Pro Guitar/Bass?

I’ve looked through the forums and couldn’t find a post about this so I’m asking here now.
So I’m using the C3 RB3 Custom Template on Reaper, and when I click on the PART REAL_GUITAR or PART REAL_BASS tracks, I am brought to the MIDI editor and from there I have no idea what the names mean. What do you author in the Expert String E through E (Low)? Does expert strum direction matter? How do you author playable notes? Is Reaper even where I should author Pro Guitar/Bass? Sorry it’s a lot to ask, but I am complete beginner, if there’s a tutorial someone can show me that would be great too. Thanks!
