So there’s a midi note for percussion (well two – one left, one right). On one of my very first customs I tried to use it but either Midi Cleaner didn’t like it or Magma didn’t (IIRC it was Midi Cleaner, which took it upon itself to remove the notes, but I am not sure).
So before I go off and do it again, I thought I’d do some research. The official RBN authoring docs list the existence of these percussion notes in the full animation list, but don’t really talk about percussion anywhere else in the drum authoring section. Basically the drummer is doing very little (a slow 4 on the floor), which would be boring but there’s a tambourine sound on 2 and 4 so I thought “well at least that’s *something* they could do…and there are vocals, so even if I wanted to, I couldn’t put the tambo there.
So can this be represented visually? As I say, I got some flak from the tools on a previous attempt, but those animation notes must be there for a reason. Also, “percussion” is so broad as to be meaningless… can a type of percussion be assigned visually (the way it is sonically for the vocal part’s hand percussion)?
the percussion note is only right handed. its an oversight in the creation of the template. only the right hand works in game even if the left hand is overwritten.
It’s also worth nothing that the actual note has the drummer hit a cowbell just between the two toms.
Thanks, both answers help immensely!!
