How!? It literally takes me at least 2-3 hours to do vocal notes for a song, granted I’m doing notes and lyrics simulatenously
I have contributed as a musical composer and music teacher, so once you get used to composing and writing tabs, it’s very easy to reinterpret or rewrite any song.
I have worked more than 15 years with music and more than 10 years charting songs.

You took a lot of time to reply to the poster, so kudos for that. I just find a lot of those numbers to be unbelievable. Sorry.
Advice for new authors: triple those numbers and more to arrive at a realistic expectation of the time it will take you.
I believe every word of this quote, but add me to the list of people that questions your ability to do a proper vocal chart in 20 minutes. I once did vocals for an extremely simple song (verse verse chorus verse) in 40 minutes. Most vocal charts take me 2-4 hours with harmonies and lyrics and then a good play test focused only on vocals. I’ve also done this long enough to know that you’d have to be cutting a lot of corners and sacrificing on the quality big time to hit those numbers. I’d love for you to live broadcast your techniques because, if real, it could save us all a lot of time, and I’d be first in line to retract my statements and apologize.
April 11, 2019 at 12:50 am #504346It depends entirely on the chart, how good you are, and most importantly, how much you trust your own ability. I’ve done vocals charts in ten minutes before, and I’ve taken four hours to do them before. Institutionalized took the longest for me because it was all off the beat, so I had to be very precise with my note placement.
April 11, 2019 at 5:49 pm #504358I didn’t even know you had to program the hands animation of the characters… what happens if you don’t? Do they stand still, or do they fake some movement that doesn’t match the notes?
April 11, 2019 at 6:41 pm #504359Magma will autogenerate them if you leave them blank. On drums, if you add events but add no animation notes, the drummer does this weird pterodactyl thing.

I call it the double nazi salute personally.

I’d be very interested to see how it playtests when not humming ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />
Really well actually. i’ve been very very strict with my vocal authoring since I’ve started C3X. You should try one out.

I was referring to the 20 minutes quote!
April 18, 2019 at 2:45 am #504501Vocals take soooooooo looooooong. I can chart drums, bass and guitar in about 5 hours. Keys about 2 hours (cause, keys). All other tracks in about 2 hours. Then it takes me 5-6 hours to do vocals. Really complicated/intricate vocals (basically anything I’m doing with AJ – j/k…love you!) can take upwards of 14 hours depending on how badly the harmonies are buried and/or discernible. Sometimes vocals alone can break my spirit and make me never want to author again. But then I get better.

ah. That makes sense now.. I was gonna have to internet throat punch you.
April 19, 2019 at 4:09 pm #504530I have completed customs in eight hours. Other ones took- or are taking years. Im on version four of Everybody Needs Somebody and You Can Call Me Al for instance. The dumbest thing I did was chart for twenty for hours straight on the vocal part on a Funhouse collaboration. No sleep, eating in front of my laptop and -of course- not doing a good job because attention to detail is everything in charting ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />

Both of these are awesome songs but also sound very hard to transcribe, especially the vocals!
