January 12, 2015 at 11:09 pm #436128They announced during their live stream they are not going to do weekly content but “have some tricks up their sleeves”
Stream still live http://www.twitch.tv/harmonixmusic
I missed the live stream as I thought it started at 5PM CST not 5PM EST. Anyone have a link to the full show?
January 12, 2015 at 11:09 pm #436129That is disappointing about the lack of keys on the Foo Fighters song. Do the other 2 songs have keys? If so, did they chart them?

January 12, 2015 at 11:14 pm #436132tks to HMX for their tacit support of RBHP. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif”>
January 13, 2015 at 12:04 am #436139I think they’re gonna release songs with keys only when they are keys driven. I don’t know how many people would play a Foo Fighters song for the keys alone, so they may just be weighing how much work goes in that against the money they make off of it.

And if that really is the case, they should have tapped some of the talent here who would have happily charted HMX quality (or better) keys for free – just for the love of the game and the music.
January 13, 2015 at 1:08 am #436143Yeah, half-assing the Keys is lame, especially with a clavinet that funky. At least the rest of the song is a good fit for Rock Band.
January 13, 2015 at 1:23 am #436145The absence of keys is what intrigues me the most in this comeback, come to think of it.
January 13, 2015 at 1:48 am #436147I wonder how many people they hired to pump out this DLC? Good for them. Also, keep making those Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd customs cause its going to be a cold day in hell if they release DLC by those bands.
January 13, 2015 at 2:08 am #436150I remember when regular DLC ended, HMX refused to absolutely confirm that DLC was 100% over. My wishful thinking was that as some of the GH exclusivity ended for the really HUGE groups (Metallica, Van Halen, Eagles, etc.), maybe HMX would follow up with extremely limited releases from such artists for the RB faithful. I thought it might be cost effective if the songs were really expensive (say $10 a song) and the licensing window was really short (say a month). Okay, it’s a helluva reach, but a guy can dream, right?
Never even considered this possibility: releasing less than monumental DLC in a genre that the vast majority of the gaming community considers dead and on gaming platforms that are in their twilight. Makes no sense. Now an RB3 online port for next-gen systems I might understand…

Makes no sense. Now an RB3 online port for next-gen systems I might understand…You’re boring. Also, Rock Band was never really ever about the “gaming community”, because it’s a party game!! I dunno about you, but I know a lot of people that would flip absolute shit over Arctic Monkeys being in Rock Band, and plenty of people in love with Avenged Sevenfold!! And I don’t even have to say anything about Dave Grohl because he’s ubiquitous in rock music!!! I feel like people on this forum and in their charts tend to forget that it’s about having fun, first and foremost.
Anyways, this whole announcement made me start looking through my old posts on the Harmonix forums, and I found this old post that I still agree with on there, and that I think a few people should pay attention to. It’s only talking about rhythm on bass, buuuuuut…….
January 13, 2015 at 2:39 am #436154You’re boringNope, I’m practical. HMX is first and foremost a business. This doesn’t appear to make business sense.

Neither does releasing ultra-expensive time-sensitive DLC that just happens to be from a band that was big in the 70’s or something. What DOES make sense from a business perspective is releasing relatively new tracks from popular bands that young people are familiar with & identify with. Sure, it’s not fuckin’ Led Zeppelin, but it’s a pretty decent comeback. Besides, buy this stuff now, and then there’s a chance that Zep will follow. Nobody buys this, and there’s zero chance outside of customs.
January 13, 2015 at 3:07 am #436159You are focused on the music and flaming me. You have lost sight of the fact that most people have thrown away their plastic guitars and are moving on to the next Gen. VERY few people even have the equipment to play this DLC.
I am curious to see where HMX is going with this.
