Well, that would be a step down for HMX, but I’m quite happy with the C3 and other custom songs that have no multitracks. If it means getting songs that otherwise wouldn’t be able to be on the platform, I’d be all for it.
As long as some of those songs are songs that I like ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
February 17, 2015 at 8:17 pm #438640Well if you count some more of the absurdly not-really multitracks that HMX has done already, like some of the Marley and A Whiter Shade of Pale, they already have. Absolute last resort, though.
February 17, 2015 at 8:44 pm #438645If they dropped keys, would pro drums be next? Harmonies? If the band isn’t going to be properly animated anymore, they might as well cut that as well and we’d be left with some bland background like Frets on Fire. Removing any major feature from the franchise makes it less distinguished from other music games and takes it in the wrong direction.

C3 has turned down separation better than some used by Harmonix. Some of the TBRB “stems” are embarrassingly bad.
February 18, 2015 at 1:41 am #438661I don’t see how they could drop pro drums. They were charting pro tom markers since RB1. Its easy peezy for them. I’m still really curious how many people they have charting this new dlc. Not to bad mouth the charts but with all the cutting corners from their previous standards.

Drummers make up a huge chunk of their user base, pro keys players make up a small portion. So, no, I can’t see that. Harmonies are not that hard but most of all, singing is singing, so again it makes up a nice chunk of their customers.
The animation issue is NOT a matter of authoring, it’s a matter of playtesting, because they missed a marker. They didn’t choose to animate all the players in the song except for that spot on guitar, that was just a mistake. Nothing new was really dropped from this new batch, it is “just” not-so-good playtesting.

They could at least chart 5 lane:/
February 18, 2015 at 4:06 am #438676I don’t think they have ever done 5 lane without pro

That would require a good amount of people to have keyboards. I have a suspicion people not playing pro keys and keyboard sales are related. Even our poll indicated that people playing 5-lane keys vs pro keys are in a minority compared to other pro instruments.
February 18, 2015 at 10:32 am #438688I’m just hoping for Rock Band 4 with 100+ songs, also Harmonix is following me on Twitter
Don’t know why but I’m just hoping for Rock Band 4.
February 18, 2015 at 1:01 pm #438690It would be awsome if in RB4, customs authors can ask for song to HMX. When HMX have right to the song, they let author have the song and authors can submit their chart and venues. When it’s done, the song would be tested by HMX and if it is good, they sell it on the XBL or PSN.
The difference with RBN, is that authors can access to big artist with the support of HMX. But HMX have less amount of work and money spent. Artists can have money back. And players can have far more songs. Everyone is happy (Except that somes artist don’t want to be in a musical game)
February 18, 2015 at 1:42 pm #438692The problem with that, and with the idea of outsourcing this work in general, is that HMX is very custodian. After a kickstart, RBN was pretty much left to its own devices, and it had very little actual crossover with HMX’ DLC releases except for a couple of times where they had the same plans, and in these cases (Writing on the Walls, Got You Where I Want You), it was always RBN that had to relent while HMX released the song on its own. Beyond that, the only direct input HMX has received from its fanbase was when it invited local PS3 players to try and isloate the problem behind the XMB crashes, to no avail.
Harmonix has always played its cards close to its chest even with how open they are compared to pretty much every other game company out there, Bungie possibly excluded. Even with their proximity to their fanbase, I think they ultimately feel that there’s too much potential for things to go wrong when you’re outsourcing work across the internet, across other countries, because record labels can be very paranoid about that sort of thing. Just like with NL saying “I’ll do your Pro Keys parts for free if you want!”, I think your only option would be to relocate to Cambridge, Mass. and try to get a full-on job there.

They would need to release stems to guys outside of their operation. And I don’t even think the issue is with them directly but with the contract they sign with the labels. HMX may be fine with send audio material to people they know they can trust and make them sign a watertight contract, but labels may not be fine anyway.

February 19, 2015 at 5:22 am #438772So, just out of curiosity, there wasn’t anything new/interesting in these newest song files was there? Just figured I would ask if anyone has been able to crack them open yet…
